Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help. A customer has left excellent comments but mistakingly selected the negative feedback score. We have been talking and trying to change it but wont let us?

Any ideas please?

If they have agreed to change - send them through a feedback revision request   - read the steps below and you can use this link Request Feedback Revision

To submit a Feedback revision request:

  1. Go to the Request Feedback Revision page from the Feedback Forum or from your Feedback Profile.

  2. Review the list of eligible Feedback entries and select the ones you want to request revisions for. The number of Feedback revision requests available to you until the end of the current year is displayed in the top right corner of the Request Feedback Revision page.

  3. Select the reason for your request in the Give the buyer a reason for the request section.

  4. Enter any additional info for the buyer in the text box. You can enter up to 500 characters.

As you would have also been given a defect when the buyer accidentally left the negative feedback your best option is to try and get ebay to remove the feedback totally as that will also remove the defect.

If the buyer revises the feedback the defect will still remain.

In order for feedback to removed the buyer has to send a message through the ebay message system saying they are happy for ebay to remove the feedback totally as it was left in error. You can then ring ebay and request it to be removed.

Jen, eBay backed away from that policy some time ago.

Defects no longer count if a buyer revises feedback   http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/policies/defect-removal.html

"Feedback that's revised by the buyer from negative to positive doesn't count as a defect. Similarly, neutral Feedback or Feedback with low detailed seller ratings for Postage time or Item as described can be revised so that it doesn't count as a defect".

What are the guidelines?

Automatically removed

Automatically removed

We automatically remove the defects caused by the reasons listed here. You may request the removal of these types of defects if they aren't automatically removed.

  • The buyer didn't pay for a purchase and an unpaid item case is recorded against the buyer.

  • An eBay Money Back Guarantee or PayPal Buyer Protection case is ruled in the seller's favour.

  • The defect was the direct result of an eBay site issue or an eBay program error.

  • eBay takes action against a buyer for activity that violates the Buying practices policy.

  • eBay or PayPal instructs you to hold a shipment or takes action to cancel the transaction.

  • eBay can determine through valid tracking that the defect was the direct result of systemic delays in delivery or communication. Examples include: wide-scale postal service delays, items stuck in customs or power outages due to extreme weather. Major delays and disruptions are often posted to our Announcement Board.

  • Feedback that's revised by the buyer from negative to positive.

Thanks cats - I had totally forgotten that they had changed that policy to make it fairer for sellers
