You will need to post the item in a manner that it is sufficiently protected from damage.
For parcels, Australia Post recommends that items are packed in such a manner that if a box weighing 22 kg is dropped on them that the contents of your parcel will survive.
also think about what kind of damage may occur when your parcel is thrown into a bag with lots of other parcels, Aus Post offer no fragile service, so you need to pack with the conditions that your parcel may encounter in mind.
If it can be sent as a letter, (large or otherwise) then keep in mind the mechanical sorters etc.
For postage costs, consult the aus post website. It is never a good idea to estimate postage.
For your parcel, you may well find that if it isn't in a flat rate satchel, then it may be processed by cubed size and weight and cost even more.
without knowing the dimensions and weight of your item, it is impossible for me to be more specific than this.
Best of luck.

keep in mind that the cheapest option to post a parcel is $6.95 for up to 500g.
once an item is more than 2omm thick it cannot go as a letter and so will incur parcel rates

Miss belly, at the top of the screen just above your first post is a little grey envelope. It should have a number on it as I have sent you a private message. (just in case you haven't discovered that function yet)
