Handling time, 43 deg C and blackouts

If I have handling time as 2 days and a buyer bought and paid for an item yesterday morning does that mean I should post it by lunchtime Saturday or lunchtime Monday?

(I have gone out once today and most businesses were blacked out and also all traffic lights so I didn't even try going to the PO and instead came home because the temp hit 43 deg C at 1.00 pm.)

I am thinking of increasing the number of days for handling, do you think that would turn off buyers?

Depends when your pick ups at your Post Office is

Our eastern truck comes at 11am, so anything posted after then would sit at our AP til 11am Monday so I wouldnt post it til Monday morning

But our Adelaide truck comes at 2pm which gives 3 extra hours

I have things that have 2-3 handling days and have had no complaints. Honesty helps and also gives you some flexibility if you cant get to the post office

I honestly don't think it would make a lot of difference. I use click & send and it shows as having been posted as soon as I pay for the label and it is only if the buyer hovers over the icon that they will see it as prepared for posting rather than actually posted. If I sell anything on a Friday after I have been to the PO then I try and lodge it over the counter before the PO closes at 11 am, it may sit there until monday morning but the buyer sees it has been sent.

I would post Monday and I would message the buyernow  saying:

"thank you for your prompt payment, I was hoping to post your item today, however as we had a black out due to the 43degree heat the PO was not able to process it,  I will be posting your parcel 1st thing Monday morning.

Thanks for your understanding.

regards zzz"

I have 3 business days handling time on 99.9% of my listings and it doesn't seem to affect sales; mind you buyers still mark down my postage time but it currently sits at 4.9 so I'm not overly fussed.  I would contact your buyer and explain about the extreme heat; most would be understanding:-)

bump, I rarely look at handling time and I think a lot of buyers aren't even aware it's there.

If it makes you feel more comfortable, change it to 3 as I don't think it will affect sales. 😉

Even though the temp has climbed up to 45 deg I am no longer in a state of panic!:^O

I think I was just too hot to think clearly because I didn't expect everything to be blacked out.

One not totally unrelated question, if I use click and send do I need a colour ink cartridge in the printer?

I have a zip bag with 3 empty cartridges in my shopping bag and I was going to get them refilled today.

It is just one of those days however it will be a brand new day in 6 hours.:^O
