Hi Guys, your suggestions please with how I should handle this without getting a big fat demerit from eBay.
Although the Canada Mail Stike has ended I was informed at my LPO this morning that Customs Canada is not yet receiving international parcels, although they expect to be doing so within the next 7 days or so.
So, I have a parcel here now that I can't dispatch. I've been in contact with the buyer who is quite happy for me to hold on the dispatch, but how do I do this without earning a late dispatch demerit from the eBay Bots?
Looking forward to your help.
As always, thanks 🙂
Melina.

Worry about it when you get the black mark Melina.
Canada has not been acceptig mail from the USA either so ebay will be sure to know about it.

as lyndal has said - hold on to the communication from the buyer and maybe also take some screenshots (or use the one attached) about the disruptions to canada via aus post. you can also get a history of the status here - https://auspost.com.au/about-us/news-media/important-updates/international-mail-updates#canada
if you speak with someone from ebay either via online chat or by phone if the defect comes; they should remove it for you :]

This is one of the reasons I stopped shipping to Canada a long time ago - endless postal hassles!
Perhaps one way would be to tell the customer that with no proper resolution in place for ending the strike (heck it could be weeks before mail is accepted for Canada again), you have been advised by Ebay to cancel the sale (just remember to mark as "Problem with buyers address/Other". Tell them that as soon as things are sorted, you will advise them.
At the end of the day, you need to look after your Ebay account.

Big thanks Lyndal and IM,
I shall wait this one out then.
Gawd! Experience here and the unselfish willingness to share it is so valuable to the less experienced, so double thanks 🙂
Not such a big issue, but still one with the propensity to get yourself into a bit of strife with.

Thanks to you too Jelly :-). We must have posted at about the same time. I didn’t see yours before I made that last post.
Thank you.

Bumpity bump!!
Our customer needs this item urgently....
Can anyone give me some direction with some alternative to Australia Post, to get this parcel into Canada - courier perhaps??
Thanks 🙂

All you can do is ring a few couriers and ask Melina.
I suggest FedEx, Toll and DHL for a start.

Thanks Lyndal. I had absolutely no idea where to start even.
