Honest Opinions

Hello to all,

I have been an eBay member for years, and used to occasionally sell a long time ago but it was only ever things I had around the house so it was very sporadic.

I'm trying to get back into it, but with actual specific items now and am wondering if anyone has a couple of minutes to check out my listings (just the jewellery, as the others are just "one offs") and tell me if they are okay.

Have I forgotten anything, are the photo's clear enough, is the description okay? Be as honest as you like. I truly do want the brutal truth.

Thanks so much advance.

I've looked at 2 jewellery listings and a clothing listing and they look professional. Your refund policy is fair but keep in mind Paypal can override anyone's refund policy and if a buyer opens a dispute they'll receive a refund from Paypal even if you know they have lied however you can appeal Paypal's decision. Also never leave positive feedback with a negative comment for a buyer - it's a policy violation. The option to leave neutral or negative feedback was removed a few years ago. I wish you well.

Shipping on this item is free regular post within Australia. Registered mail is available at a cost to the buyer.

NO NO NO NO-please use either registered or click n send with insurance for a $90 item.Registered post or click n send is YOUR protection as a seller-the buyer already has Paypal protection.

You really should be using click n send anyway as cheaper than normal AP satchels & if lodged over an AP counter,it will be scanned & you'll receive a receipt which covers you for any Paypal non received disputes.

If you MUST post anything via regular post with no tracking, make sure its for an item value that you could afford to lose if it does go missing.

Just a question re the $90 opal ring ( gorgeous IMO) but you haven't stated what type of opal ie doublet, triplet etc Sorry if 'solid opal' is correct but I wouldn't understand that.

Haven't read the police re AP and jewellery since the advent of click & send as I don't sell fine jewellery but back then registered post, with extra cover, had to be used if you wanted to be compensated for a lost parcel.

Once you start adding extra cover there is little difference between the cost of reg post and c&s anyway.

Totally correct though that you never send anything that you are not prepared to refund or replace without question if the buyer says it has gone missing by regular parcel, express satchel or red satchel, the tracking on those is not up to Paypal requirements.

Foxette, a doublet is a slice of gem opal glued to a backing.

A Triplet is a backing, a slice of gem opal and a crystal top glued together.

Solid opal may have colour throughout, or a bar of colour on a colourless oopal background. If it is not glued together, it is still regarded as solid opal.

The seller has described the ring correctly.

The only thing I can really suggest is more photos - either uploaded to the gallery, or (preferably) in the body of the listing, just showing the pendants from a couple of different angles - show off your work! 🙂

Your images are good - very clear, but in the gallery they look a little dark and it does detract a little bit from how lovely they are. There's some very good (free) photo editing software around that can help make your images pop a little bit more - I use Windows Live gallery to brighten, alter colour temperature if needed, lighten shadows and clarify, then use Photo Filtre to remove discolouration on silver (you can isolate segments free-hand, then adjust the selection), it really makes a big difference.

Just one small spelling error - chysocolla is missing an R.

Other than those little things, great items and great listings.
