Honest Opinions

Hello to all,

I have been an eBay member for years, and used to occasionally sell a long time ago but it was only ever things I had around the house so it was very sporadic.

I'm trying to get back into it, but with actual specific items now and am wondering if anyone has a couple of minutes to check out my listings (just the jewellery, as the others are just "one offs") and tell me if they are okay.

Have I forgotten anything, are the photo's clear enough, is the description okay? Be as honest as you like. I truly do want the brutal truth.

Thanks so much advance.

Just a question re the $90 opal ring ( gorgeous IMO) but you haven't stated what type of opal ie doublet, triplet etc Sorry if 'solid opal' is correct but I wouldn't understand that.

Foxette, a doublet is a slice of gem opal glued to a backing.

A Triplet is a backing, a slice of gem opal and a crystal top glued together.

Solid opal may have colour throughout, or a bar of colour on a colourless oopal background. If it is not glued together, it is still regarded as solid opal.

The seller has described the ring correctly.

Erica 😉

Oh of course I knew that Erica-I was just testing to see if anyone else knew 😄

Wow, thank you for such great responses!

Re Postage: Good point! I hadn't realised just how much things have changed on eBay! There's so much more to learn.

I signed up for Click-and-Send, and then realised it was useless to me as I don't have a printer. I think I'll just post via the counter. I will send everything registered post!

Cuddles_01au: Thank you! Although I had to laugh. Look at your comment. You THUNK, hehe.

crikey*mate: LOL, thank you!

Re More Photo's: I actually agree. I began taking more photo's of the rings, and didn't get around to the pendants, but I do think more is better. It's always the photo's I look at first in any description so I'm sure my buyers are the same. I will play around with it, and see how I do.

Thank you to all for pointing out the grammar mistakes & for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it.

I'm sorry for the double post, but I am confused.

Since I don't have a printer and can't use click-and-send, do I want to use registered post, or tracking with a signature?

And one more thing .. Should I stay with free postage and just cover the cost myself, or are buyers typically happy to pay for their own post?

I just looked at the Sterling Silver Laguna Lace Pendant.

1. You may want to add one or two more photos that show it from different angles, so potential buyers can make a more informed choice. Having said that, one photo can often be enough as it leaves things to the imagination which can help

2. I would change the font colour. Grey and black are a little bland

3. Shipping policy - I would remove a couple of those things as they're not necessary. If you don't specify pick-up as an option, you needn't write it in the listing. If you post to worldwide, you should make it available in the Post To locations, so they can immediately buy. Go to Australia Post and ask them about rates to various countries

4. You may want to condense the Terms part too, although I'm not sure what would be best to remove as they do look informative

5. Think about adding a few pics as thumbnails in your description area so they have a visual stimulation while reading the text, instead of having to scroll back up for the photo

Some sellers include the cost for postage so technically it isn't free. If you actually pay for it they might assume they are charged for it anyway. If you start charging for it and the cost is reasonable it shouldn't affect your sales much because buyers are used to paying for postage.

Registered Post includes insurance and online tracking plus the recipient needs to sign for it.

thesoulyears, thanks for feedback! I've updated all the details now. I agree about the font colour. I'll play around with some themes.

deja_vu, thanks for clearing that up. I've added postage onto the listings now. I'll be sending everything via Registered Post now.

Thank you so much to all of you for your time and honestly. You've helped me loads!

Anything under $100 and 500g is $3.70 cheaper to post with C&S than a registered AP satchel.

A cheap printer is $40-50. Don't need too many C&S postages to pay for a printer.

I had to read that 4 times Dave, before I realised you meant Click-and-Send. Goodness lol.

I actually have a printer but it is in storage because I just use a laptop now. Perhaps I should consider using Click-and-Send after all.

Thanks for the feedback!
