How about Ebay lower the listing and FVF for used or second hand items?

Ebay is a big buisness and i hope a big contributor to the worlds big issues.

I would like to see ebay foster support for and encourage recycling, reusing, reasigning etc, buy reducing the listing and FVF for used or second hand items.

Would this not be a good thing for Ebay ethically, not to mention the good will fostered towards many owners of all things used.

I would feel much better about Ebay as a large business, because i know they love to cut deals with big 'mega' sellers that opperate out of China and other mass manufacturers of new bits and peices that we all love to buy cheap and so If ebay evened the playing feild, just a little, to offset the new markets, i think alot of people would appreciate their more resposible corporate outlook.

I dunno... If I buy a $20 top, and I feel I've gotten $20 worth of wear out of it, I might consider any money made from selling it to be pure profit.

It just depends on if I get any compliments while wearing it.... One night could get me that $20 worth, or it could take a couple of years. Considering the clothes that form my staple wardrobe, I'd have to wear things for an average of 3 years before I could consider making a profit on them. Smiley LOL

eBay is unlikely to lower the FVF on SH items, though. They do cut a few select categories a break or two with (auction) insertion fees, but they're generally trying to encourage brand new items, and use the ratio of new:used as a selling point.

Oh Marina, you have got my point, but flushed it down the toilet!

The reasons i suggested, were two fold: Firstly; i feel that there is enough 'stuff' out there, that has been manufactured or created, to go around for a most of us and In some small way, Ebay would encourage the sale of used or second hand goods buy way of  reduced fees ( im a greeny at heart ) and assist the in the 'survival of the planet'.

Secondly: I sell quite a few used goods and there is a lot of profit to be made on some used goods, mainly because some deem it worth nothing and the opportunists virually steal it and make 100% profit ( im a greeny realist ). Who brought up the suggestion that Ebay's listing fees might be adjusted according to profit margin? seriously!

I believe ebay would be better off ( not just monetarily ) buy greening up their fees. I would be more inclined to list more items.
