Re: How do I get the best selling results

You need to fix your titles.

If I was looking for a horse blanket I would not search for "look" or "clearance". I would search for "horse blanket" 😉

Love the multi colour polka dots.:-x

As a buyer I can tell you what I would be searching for.

You are wasting your titles...no one searches for Look, or Clearance....you need just the main points.  Try New Ripstop Horse rug 5'3" to 6'6" + the weights if appropriate.

Get rid of the subtitles as they are not searchable and try to put as much of that information into the titles.

Put as many pictures as possible in your listing.  If the rugs will fit anything from a shetland to a 16h hack it is a good idea to show it on different sized horses.

I used to buy for a shetland, a 12hh riding pony and a 15.5hh hack and often found that the make of rug that would fit one would not fit the others.

I would also try to put more listings in your shop.  You are not using the format economically with just 3 listings.

You properly spotted this but I couldn't find the word "Horse" in the two I looked at, most people are not going to find them

good luck with the selling

Fred, for the most part the words Ripstop and Combo and the sizes would be sufficient for the listings to be searchable by the average horse owner.

No they wouldn't because the FIRST thing that a potential buyer would do is search for "horse blanket" or "horse rug", and the OP's listings would never appear.

Most people do NOT use Category Searches. They might use categories to refine the results when there are too many of them, but they will not start the search that way.

Look at this eBay Search... http://tinyurl.com/d5hecbp

That is a search on the terms "rug or "blanket" on all of julie's listings. If they won't appear on that search, then they DEFINITELY won't ever appear on an eBay-wide search. This is a major fail, and something that I notice many other horse blanket sellers are making. This means there is an EXCELLENT opportunity to increase sales just by adding 3 words in the title "Horse" "Rug" and "Blanket".

----

The OP is also not using ANY Item Specifics, which are also a great way to "focus" buyers.

When there are a large number of search results, the next thing people do is click on the filters in the left menu. If you don't have (say) material listed, then they will not look through 1000 or more "unspecified" ones to find a woollen one - they just click on "wool" and choose from what they find there.

A) Title keywords are #1 most critical thing to success. These are completely being wasted in Julie's listings

B) Item Specifics are the 2nd most important way that items get found. Julie has none in teh listings that I reviewed.

C) Then worry about price, and all the other things.... because remember if the item never appears in the buyer's search results then it is irrelevant how good or bad it is.

Best Match is the search default, and A) and B) are the criteria if starts off with.

Coops, Ripstop is the fabric the rugs are made of, Combo is the type of rug...a rug and hood combination.

Anyone searching for a paddock rug would look for Ripstop and Combo and if looking for a stable rug they might look for wool.

Re: How do I get the best selling results

Of course it should say Horse or Horse rug, that's what they are selling,

it wont cost extra to use the correct words that most people would search with

Car tyres are rubber, I won't advertise as RUBBER even though every body knows that's what they are made of, I use the words CAR TYRE

it's just common sense

Re: How do I get the best selling results

No never

But if I did want a horse rug I would search for "Horse Rug"

so if a seller wants to sell horse rugs they should use it in the title and description

sorry if your nose is out of joint but your advise is just wrong
