How many accounts are necessary?

I was wondering how many accounts do you feel is necessay?

I have heard of the following:

Buying Account

Selling Account

Store Account

General Account

Posting on Discussion Board Account

Are they necessary?

However many you need. Like bank accounts, some people have one, some have different accounts for different purposes.

I would always recommend having at least separate buying and selling accounts.

If you want to buy on ebay to resell then separate Buying and Selling accounts are a good idea.  You can have a store on your selling account so no need for another one there.

It is not a good idea to post on the boards with your Selling account but you could use your Buying account without too many worries about what might happen.

You can have as many accounts as you like but there are only the two that are really necessary....Buying and Selling and perhaps a Posting account.

I have 3 - this one, my primary buying ID which I occasionally use to sell personal items and post on the boards with. Another is my primary selling account, which operates a store and I have occasionally posted on the boards with it, and the last is relatively superfluous to my general requirements. I've only logged into it a few times, and made one purchase with it because I didn't want the FB for that purchase on any other accounts. 

It is not necessary for me to have separate accounts for buying / selling, as such, but it is most definitely preferable due to the record a FB profile creates, in much the same way as I wouldn't frame and display a personal purchase history on the wall if I had a B&M store.

I have 3.

My selling/store account, this one (which was initially going to be purely buying) and another one. This and the other I use for the 40 (plus 100 every second weekend) free listings.

I think I have another one, but I have no idea what the ID is, much less the password.

Gosh, I think I have about a dozen, mainly selling accounts, but also a couple of buying accounts - all serve their purpose well, it really varies so much between individuals, really it is just what works for you.

I don't have a separate posting to discussion board account, never will. 

My personal choice, mainly as I could never really take other sellers advice truly seriously, without being able to peek at what they sell, how well they do etc etc.  Advice is so easily given on these boards, but I like to check the credentials of those giving it.  I respect that some may have fear of "backlash" buying behavior from posting, but I think demonstrating that you walk the talk is more important, and I have to say I have made quite a few sales from posting on the boards - LOL no doubt I have lost a few too !!

Over the years I have become familiar with many of the selling accounts of those that use posting accounts, and a number are the real deal, some are all talk of their selling prowess and knowledge with seemingly little to back up it up, others just seem to be mischievous and don't seem ever to conduct business in the way they advise others to IMO.

I have no idea how many I have that I have forgotten the sign in details of so don't use any more but of active accounts i have many.

I have 3 selling accounts, 2 buying accounts and a posting account registered with the Australian site and buying and selling accounts registered on the UK site.

So in answer to your question, however many accounts a member wants to have.

I was just wondering, if people do want to open a new account, are they able to link it up to the same credit card or bank details or whatever?

I (obviously, I suppose) haven't tried to open any new accounts in many years but I do recall trying to a long while back and the system wouldn't let me because it was the same email address or credit card or something like that.

springy.... it's the email ac.  every different ebay ID must have a different email address

you can link 8 IDs to one PayPal account
