How to get eBay to reverse a seller restriction

Hi all,

        i am seeking some imput as to how to get ebay to reverse a seller restriction placed upon me, i received the below from them;

"we have decided that your account will remain indefinitely restricted from selling. We have taken this action out of concern for the safety and integrity of the eBay Community. Due to eBay policy, we cannot provide you with more specific information."

Now i have been an ebay member for over 10 years and have a feedback score of 780 with 100% positive feedback as both a buyer and a seller ?????????????

My current orders all have just been delivred or will be with a day or so and those already delivered also gave 100% positive feedback i only have had one defect and that was when processing an order we opened the outer package and found the actual item to be water damaged and after communicating with the buyer they were fine with it and we refunded the money, another part of there correspondence that confuses me is as below;

" We understand that this situation may be frustrating; however, although future emails from you will be read, we will be unable to respond to any further requests to reinstate your selling privileges."

Now that clearly reads to kme that its a done deal and nothing more can be done yet at no stage have they advised me what the issue is and every document they have asked for has been provided but still no advise on what it is that i have actulally done, they have also on three different occassins where i have spoken to customer support they have changed what it is that this department that hides behind the iron curtain wanted yet i still complied .

CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO NEXT AS IF A PROPER CONVERSATION COULD BE HAD THIS WOULD BE SORTED OUT IN A FLASH AS LONG AS IT WAS FLUENT BOTH WAYS SO I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE DONE.

I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THIS TREEATMENT IN A DICTATORSHIP NOT IN A FREE COUNTRY HELP ME PLEASE.

my suggestion would be to request a call back from ebay on the phone and speak to someone. you should be able to get more information over the phone.

arguing your case here or typing in all caps isn't going to get you anywhere as this board is made up of just members like yourself. although it's frustrating, you need to try and stay level-headed throughout the process, otherwise you're going to have a less chance of success.

creating new accounts to bypass the seller restrictions (like you seem to have done) won't fly with them though. it's against ebay's policies to do so. if you can't request a call back from the restricted account, then i'd try and find a way to get in contact with them without using a new account (whether that be email, live chat etc) and then ask them how you can go about requesting that call back.

everyone on the boards seems to suggest that the call back is the easiest way to speak with someone who is rational and listens.

this ID you are posting with is registered in the USA.  Are you in the USA?

The reason I ask is because you have posted on the Australian boards and we are probably unable to help you because rules vary between eBay sites.

I wish you luck with your efforts to reinstate your selling rights.

How to get eBay to reverse a seller restriction

Thank you for that reply i opened the US account weeks before anu of this and did so as my interpretation of ebays policy was i could have more than one account, however you may not open an account to get around a suspension and the time line proves that was never an intention.

As for calling them they are really great with simple issues, howevr can give no detail on this suspension as i have tried that and its failed very poorly and yes i do keep a level head as i have been in business in one form or another for over 45 years , thus i know how things work.

The customer support call line is ok they are really nice and they also have their hands tied 100% they including one of the supervisers i asked to speak to clearly stated that the greatest frustration they have is that they dont even have a phone number for the particular department that handles suspensions and here is the actual problem where a department completly isolates itself from the operations and in fact has no direct accoutability, one one occassion they asked to see a bank statekment that included the numbers on my card, when i sent that to them via a secure link they provided thay came back and said that was not suitable as it did not show the credt card numbers.

i advised them that the mastercard i had was a mastercard debit card and statments do not show the card numbers, they came back and disputed that so i went to my bank and got a letter from them advising that statements for debit cards do not read as a normal credit card statement would do , they still disagreed remembering this is all done in the US not Australia so they may be correct that its different over there but i can only provide Australian bank statements.

They continued to ask for documentation so much in fact the i recently borrowed over half a million dollars with greater ease that proving who i am to eBay , no one can call this anything but complete stupidity i am sure.I know you say eBay dont read this i will almost guarentee they do but my intent here is to find out if any fellow seller has any positive ideas without making assumptions thanking you all in advance.

As much as I hate to say it, I doubt that there is anything you can do that will make ebay have a change of mind or heart.

There is a member who frequents the boards who was very unfairly suspended.   He tried everything that was suggested by boardies and hit a brick wall every time.

The most frustrating part of it is that complete silence from ebay and refusal to even tell you what you did wrong.  Even murderers get a chance to defend themselves and argue their case.

All I can do is offer you all the luck in the world for your upcoming fight with bay.

I find it amazing that ebay won't provide you with a reason for the restriction, even a general reason.

You deserve to know if it was concerns about the items you sell or problems with the actual transactions.

Given that you had some problem with the bank statements, it is sounding to me as if the problem is with the transactions.

Someone else might have more of an insight to help you.

The fact they won't be specific about the problem & that they have said there will be no further correspondence suggests to me this is a done deal & you're not going to win this one, though no harm in trying.

The different departments don't work in unison & that is going to be the blocker.

If you don't get anywhere but still want to sell on ebay, I think you will eventually have to open a new account, with a new card, perhaps a credit card, a new paypal account & new details so that it won't be linked in any way to your present accounts.

To get this they are treating the account as a hijacked account as they can't verify your identity,(they can't/wont

accept anything that you have sent them as proof as either it's not the correct documents,it doesn't provide

them with what they need or they believe that your "proof" may be stolen).

You would've been shut down by their Trust & Safety team which works outside the eBay environment and is

based overseas,

If they have shut it down for that reason then they will not re-instate it.

If eBay spot the same ISP on the new account springy, they'll shut it down straight away.

So sorry this has happened to you as well,it happened to me over 3 years ago and I'm afraid that once ebay show you the exit door then that's where you will go.

Ebay will never give you the reason why as that's not in their kind nature.

You can try all you can to find out why how and what but ebay will not respond as they're bloody idiots.

It still **bleep** me off how ebay can just end a persons selling with no sense of guilt or thought of the ramifications to the seller.

It's just plain madness and paranoia by ebay just to keep kissing some buyers **bleep** that may have only purchased 1 item off ebay and you the seller has made it your living for many years.

Ebay management seems to be made up of half wits, there's no other explanation lol.
