How to pay for postage over-the-counter (using Australia Post's packaging)?

Hi all. So I usually post items using my own packaging (and calculated postage) if I have any and use eBay to print out my Aus Post labels. But sometimes I don't have the right-sized boxes or packaging for my items or it's just easier to go down and pay for/use my local post office's packaging to save the hassle. My question is, would I be able to do that? What about the postage that was charged to the buyer, do I need to pay out-of-pocket in this case? Or can I use the calculated postage that the buyer paid for on eBay? It seems silly to print the labels from eBay and take them to the post office if I'm going to be using their packaging/boxes anyway. I'd also rather not be ordering Australia Post packaging online if I can help it, as it'd be slower than just getting it done then and there at the counter.

If I do need to pay out-of-pocket, would there be any way to get that postage money back from eBay (the postage that the buyer paid for)?

I might be overthinking it. Sorry ๐Ÿ˜…

I don't use 'calculated postage', but use prepaid A.P. for everything

If you don't use an Ebay label,  that postage money just gets credited to your bank account.

So no need to print the Ebay label, and its not really out of your pocket, as it will come back to your bank account from Ebay.  Hope thats as clear as mud.

But a better idea is to signup for Auspost Mypost, and import the details from Ebay,  and that way if you sales are high enough you can get significant postage saving.    And if you happen to want to still do it over the counter, you flash your mypost info, and it still goes towards your discount, even on prepaid AP packaging.
