How to recover from a below standard seller rating.

Recently i've taken over a store that wasn't monitored properly for months - messages weren't returned and the customer service was poor as there were no staff officially covering ebay as part of their job.

How do I fix the damage that was done over those months? Is there any tips to getting our sales going again?

Why not use the Sub-Title line on the Sell an Item page to let everyone know the store is 'UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT'  and are very focussed on great customer service.

This can be added to your store 'banner' at the top so is seen by anyone visiting the store.

Thanks, that's actually a pretty good idea. I'll add in a small statement about our customer service changes in easily visible areas.

Is there a way to boost our visibility while our rating is down? I feel like part of the reason for our sales drop is due to the drop in visibility that comes with poor rankings.

We operate two ebay stores selling very similar items.

The rankings on one of these stores (this selling ID) is way down and has been for some time now (maybe 6-months). And of course sales have been dead slow too on that one. The other one is cruising along reasonably well.

Like you we are also wondering how we can go about getting the search rankings up on this store.

It seems the only way is to get sales up. But how can you get sales up when your rankings are so low?

For us its very clear that search rankings = sales volume.

When are rankings are high then sales are high and vice-Versa.

When I suggested using the Sub-Title line, I thought this would then show on the listing (photo and basic description) when buyers are scrolling.  Please correct me if I am wrong.   And so thought it could be a way to grab attention.

Not being a store, I know nothing about 'banners'.

Sorry OP, I don't have any suggestions regarding lifting your profile - and with over 1.3 million listings in the Health/Beauty category, best left to others with bigger/better thinking caps than mine.

Personally I won't use subtitbles, as they cost $2 per listing - that quickly adds up. But adding a small clause after the postage section would be free and visible.

Whoops!! I've never used them myself so didn't realize there was such an exorbitant cost involved. Scratch my suggestion as it would cost you well over $300 just with the listings you already have.

Sometimes they will chuck in a freebie subtitle, but only for the original listing. I'm pretty sure you get charged for it when/if the item relists.

If there is any room left in your titles, maybe you could put something like Under New Management in there. It is a lot of characters though. I'm just thinking that a certain percentage of buyers only look at the title and the photo and forget to look at the description.

Good luck with it all!
