Hi all, recently sold a set of bunk beds and arranged with the buyer that I would leave it out for them (on Wed afternoon) because I would not be home at the time they wanted to pick up due to other commitments with my children. Now she is saying that she didn't pick it up and wants a refund and if no refund will come here on Sat to pick up?? I don't know what to do? Please help!

I was gone all of two hours and the bunks were gone when I arrived home so thought nothing of it. I have even left her positive feedback about the transaction....has anyone had this type of thing happen before? and what are my options? TIA

Hi!
I don't know about your options-might need one of the wise ones to advise you.
But I am stunned that you would leave $100-$150.00 outside for someone to help themselves!!!
May as well have left the front door open at the same time.
I feel for you & hope some thing good comes of this
As it was a pickup your buyer has no paypal protection but the worry is they know where you live...........hmmm.

Given Paypal don't provide buyer or seller protection for pickup items....

Hi again!
I understand what you are saying & you are obviously an honest & trusting person.
I had a seller offer me the same type of pick up & I refused to collect until they were home.
How do you know you were dealing with an honest person or did some one else come into your place & just help themselves.
The whole idea of pick up when nobody is home lends itself to ending in tears.
The world has changed for the worse!!!

Would this not mean, since the buyer is claiming that they did not pick up the goods, that they have been stolen? In which case I would think reporting the theft to the police is step A, but how / who by isn't as clear to me - goods were on your property, but the goods in question weren't your property.... I guess possession would be the most relevant thing, so maybe let the buyer know you will be reporting the goods as stolen - does anyone know if the buyer's contact details would be required?

I would think so Digi, only because IF the police investigate this kind of thing, then the OP would naturally have to tell them the whole story cos the buyer certainly has to be a person of interest you would think. It is someone who was on the property sometime around the time the beds were stolen... if ya get my drift...
OP, as there is no PayPal protection, there could be the possibility of a credit card charge back, and I don't know how all that works, but maybe they will get a refund that way if you don't refund them voluntarily, so watch out for that, apart from that they might give you a neg
