I have a concern about a transaction from a buyer in Ireland

I promised myself I would no longer ship OS due to ebay charging a FVF for postage too

But he agreed to charge extra for the item to factor that in.

Now AP can't mail anything to this country as of the 23/9/2021

Only thing I can do now is refund the buyer less ebay's non-refundable fees

What do you think?

If I cancel the order after refunding him, will it hurt my account?

It will not hurt your account as long as you use the reason "problem with buyers address".

You will get all your fees back, except the 30c fixed transaction fee. You cannot partially refund the buyer AND cancel the transaction. The buyer must not be out of pocket. Cancelling the order will automatically refund him anyway in one step.

Just apologise and say that Aus Post have updated their guidelines which include non-postage to Ireland.

If you cancel using 'problem with buyer's address' you won't get a defect. You will be up for the non-refundable 30c (or 33c) transaction fee.

Maybe consider in future that a global pandemic might have an impact on shipping overseas.

You should really refund the whole amount of the sale.....it is not the buyer's fault that you cannot complete the sale.

If you cancel the sale use the option of problem with the buyer's address.....that should not trigger a defect on your account.

I am absolutely amazed how 18 months into the Pandemic, so many people don't realise there is a pandemic.
