.....for more than I have an item listed and some comment about how some dude is selling the stuff cheaper.

Scam. As you should be aware, given your experience.
How many legitimate buyers pay over the asking price? How many advertising threads are you going to start?
I apologise if I've taken your post the wrong way. It could well be that you sincerely believe that buyers will PM you with offers for more than you have an item listed for, rather than just bidding/buying.
Can I interest you in a bridge? A free Opera House is thrown in for the first hundred buyers.
FFS.

It was through the "best offer" on the listing. I always wanted to know if an offer could be put through at a higher price than the actual listing....
I in no way am trying to promote any products with my posts and consider it unethical to do so.
I already have the paperwork for the opera house but they want too much for it....

What about the bridge? You've already answered your own question, so the advertising bit still applies

Maybe they thought they were offering one price for several items - wouldn't be the first time someone thought they were offering a total price rather than a per item price. The comment about someone selling them for less would make more sense in that context, too.

Well, I have in fact sold an item successfully to someone who offered more than the BIN price. They thought the price I had asked was too low and were offering what they thought was a fairer price. We were both happy with the outcome ๐

Awwwweeee Davey boy, have you got you're cranky pants on?
...and we both know you're only trying to palm that damn bridge off, cause its needs painting again and you dont want to do it! ๐
Chin up mate, the Easter Bunny comes tomorrow. ๐

It is hard to do the right thing on these boards that is for sure.:^O
If you post with a selling id - you are advertising
If you post with a private id - you are a troll or hiding something
I was actually advised by eBay to come to the boards for exposure, so why are members so upset about sellers who come here.
There is a PS board that ONLY allows sellers id's, so I guess if that is the advertising some members tend to disagree with eBay should shut that down..

Buyers can't see the powersellers board if all they do is buy,
