.... as a result of now being a "Top Rated Seller" I lose the 30 free listings per month. That really is a back handed compliment.
I am competing against others who don't have to pay GST or tax and who get free listings every month.
Forgive me for not being overcome with joy at this new Top Rated Seller status.

Just start listing on a new ID & you can start off again

I forgive you moviemem but there's plenty who post on these boards who'll come down on you like a ton of bricks for mentioning it.
Duck and weave, that's all you can do.

you used the eBay special offer of 30 free listings for casual sellers to see if you were able to sell on ebay, if your items were what buyers wanted, and if you could actually do it!! congratulations, you made a success of it and now you are being asked to join the ranks of regular sellers.
dont matter if you sell 10, 100 or 1,000 items you are still most likely liable to pay income tax on any profits, and as for GST, you only need to register for that if you sell somethng like $75,000 pa (check with yr accountant )
to save us all the hassle of re typing what has been said over and over on these boards, maybe read all the responses to this thread.

... and keep up the good work, obviously selling on ebay is the way to go for you.

What putney said.
Your listings should also show up higher on 'best' match searches.
If anybody uses that. I certainly don't.
And it wouldn't be a normal week on eBay without such a question, nanny.

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Seems others feel the same way. Bottom line is that if I dont get the free listings I wont be listing much in future.

If you put an ad in the For Sale column of the paper you have to pay and if you want to list on Ebay's site then you have to pay. You can always go to the other sites and pay nothing but you will sell nothing also.

hi Gwen... nice to see you, hope all's well up there with you. Not such a good end to the year here, with Vic now in a nursing home, in high care 😞

Oh Putney. Just wanted to say I am so sorry to hear this news. I do hope 2013 is a bit better for you xxx
Sending "hi' to Gwen 🙂

As for selling elsewhere, I am doing very well indeed selling through my own website. Any serious seller knows that you cannot rely on one place to sell. Diversification is very important. ebay is a good place to sell but it is not a monopoly.
