I'm really doing an 'ARRGGHH' Just tried to relist an item.....

1.  The item I was going to relist was one that eBay had automatically relisted 3 times before (without my realising they were doing this)

2.  The item (on the last relisting) received a listing violation (removal), which according to another member related to 'keyword spamming' (I didn't know I had done any such thing, just put in a correction when I found out the information I had listed was not right - so hang me for it!!)

3.  Amended the wording so that I could relist.

4. Clicked on relist item, and got this message, and 5 below - "Please provide the correct information in the highlighted fields. You can't relist this, because you've selected to automatically relist this'

5. Had already clicked off the automatic relist (and don't forget it had already been relisted 3 times)  :

You can't relist this, because you've selected to automatically relist it.
Automatically relist this item up to 3 times if it doesn't sell - it's free to relist. Final value fees apply.  Help on auto relist
Note there isn't a tick there.

6.  As it had already been automatically relisted 3 times, I'm getting a little frustrated and annoyed.

7.  Note to eBay : As you are now ripping off so many extra $'s from sellers (FVF's on postage), it would be appreciated if you would use that money to employ some really tech savvy people to maintain this site as it should be - without all the continual glitches that members are experiencing, including this one.

And just relisted X amount of items - not showing immediately in my list of items for sale, which they always used to.  Had to close and reopen eBay for them to show.  Inadvertently relisted one item twice, so one off my 40 for the month.  Do these IT people have extended lunch hours from 9-5???  Just added a GRRR to my ARGGGH!!!

Once again.....

It is FRIDAY. FRIDAY is eBay maintenance day. Funny things happen on FRIDAY.

Dont lose one off your 40, just go in and revise your second listing and change it to something else.

Even if it is an entirely different item, category, price, etc, etc if you revise it you wont lose a listing.

done it myself a few times when I have double listed.

Agreed. But go up to #7 above. So much extra money to employ people who know what they are doing. It would certainly save a lot of huffs and puffs on our end of the line...!!! When will eBay get a plot that will not give major angst at our end.

Already deleted it.

But will say I (and I'm sure many other members will agree) we are sick and tired of 'Fridays' maintenance that always causes grief to sellers.

eBay need to employ professionals to update the site - certainly the ones engaged now are not up to the task.

There are more members in the US than anywhere else and the base of their operations is in the US so of course they do site maintenance when it is 2am in the US. Most sites do their updates etc around 2am, ANZ is often down at 2am which is when I am trying to access my account when I am in the UK but I don't start complaining that they should do the work at 2pm Australian time just so it doesn't  inconvenience me.

How difficult is it to use sell similar if it won't let you relist?

Sorry, but not the point at all.  I will agree that maintenance of web sites should be undertaken.  But not at the expense of aggravations to customers/members.  You refer to the ANZ site.  I am an ANZ customer, and except for when their whole site collapsed a couple of weeks ago, have never experienced a REGULAR MAINTENANCE THINGS DONT' WORK PROPERLY situation.

eBay seem to make a habit of it.  Totally unacceptable.

With the amount of money at their disposal, they should employ top grade IT people, just as they employ top grade legal people to ensure they don't pay appropriate taxes in a lot of the countries they reap their income from.

it's every Friday, and has been for at least the five years I have been a member. I notice that YOU posted a response specifically referring to Friday maintenance on another thread before you started this one.

Do you think there are different rules for different members? Or are you trying to disguise a non-legitimate rant as a real question?

I would be interested in knowing whta your point is.
