I think a neg coming-

I posted an item yesterday, the day it was bought and paid for. I received an email from the buyer today asking can I leave feedback. I said my feedback is given automatically once feedback is left, that way I know you have received your item.   Right or wrong thats the way I do it.

I just got another email saying "ok **bleep** head - I'd better receive it"

If I do receive a neg would I have grounds to have it removed?

Oh my goodness there are some cranky pants out there aren't there.  Touch wood, I've never had this experience, although when I return from the PO and mark orders as posted etc I leave feedback then, so maybe I don't give them enough time to whinge as I always post same or next day  Smiley Wink

Re: I think a neg coming-

Thankfully they are few and far between for me. My handling time is 5 days buy I still post within 24 hours most of the time. 2 days at the absolute most. It's tempting to not mark as posted for a few days to fatten out the delivery time, but I know I'd get marked down for postage if I did, even with the long handling time.

I used to leave feedback straight after posting, but I don't any more, I found few left it in return. Since I stopped leaving it first, more people leave it (although I don't really care if they don't). I figure if the buyer turns out to be a real pratt, I don't want to have given them glowing feedback.

Re: I think a neg coming-

An update,   I received this message from the buyer last night,

I received my items thank you I love them.

No feedback left though so I think the message is to prompt me to leave it for him first.   I would have for anyone else but after the couple of messages he sent me I won't be this time.

I'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

I Think in this case you should leave them feedback as they are happy with the item

I would too and if they don't leave positive you have their message to support a claim for removal Smiley Happy

Also, perhaps they are feeling guilty about the previous messages and can see your point ?  (That's probably a big maybe Smiley LOL

Of course it is. This buyer is on a mission.Smiley Very Happy

He remembers this bit you wrote:

What he is doing is testing you out. He is saying to himself-ha! That seller said he doesn't give feedback first because he wants to know the item arrived okay. If I send a message to say I have it and I'm happy, let's see him try to wriggle out of it now. He's got no excuse.

From his point of view, he has done everything right, paid quickly, let you know etc & now he wants what he sees as his due.

I know FB is voluntary but I think this guy is livid that he has given positive FB to a lot of sellers and sees himself as 'helping them out' but many of them haven't done the same in return.

I understand your hestitation. I really do. You could be suckered into giving a positive, only to get a neutral in return and then you'd be kicking yourself.

But my suspicion is it is going to swing the other way.

If you reply to the message & say you are so pleased he has the items & is happy, thank you for letting you know, and then give positive feedback, even if it just says quick payment, thankyou, then I think this fellow will feel satisfied and will give you a positive.

But if you give no response at all, no FB & no reply to the message, then I think you will cop a neutral or neg.

Why not live dangerously and give him a positive & make his day.Smiley Wink

You know he's hanging out for it.

Re: I think a neg coming-

springyzone,  I have followed your suggestions and have replied to the message and also left feedback.   Now I wait...its hard to believe that the same person wrote all of the messages I've received,  hopefully the good side will leave me good feedback if he's going to leave any at all.

Re: I think a neg coming-

Oh boy, I hope so too. I hope I haven't called it wrong for you or I will feel awful as I know your first instinct was not to leave any FB.

If he turns around and leaves you a neutral or neg now he is a real rotter.

If he got the item in good time and he is happy with it, then that should be positive feedback for you.

or at the very least he should refrain from giving any at all if he is still in his grumpy mood.

I would love to know what happens next. If he does give neutral or neg it could even be worth a call to ebay to ask them to read your messages, but I suppose it would depend on the wording whether they deleted it or not.

Fingers crossed for you! Good luck! Selling on ebay shouldn't be so hard, especially over something like taking a few days to give FB.

Re: I think a neg coming-

I, like you, wait until the buyer has left feedback so I know they received the item before I leave feedback, but in this case as I would not want my 100% feedback tainted in anyway, I would just politely say sure, no problem, happy to leave you feedback now, but I would also explain my reason why I usually leave it till item received.

Unusual that they asked you to leave feedback straight away. Never heard a buyer doing that before
