As the heading says. I want to restrict selling in rural areas. How can i do this?
I know you can restrict countries. But i would like to restrict rural areas etc because i would like to offer free shipping and it would not be feasible to do this if i had to ship to rural areas, or even far cities like Perth, as im based in Sydeny
Any ideas?

First, you need business policies enabled on your account, then you will be able to access the option to block regions of Australia by postcode (full info on the regions blocked by postcode are available at the link posted above).
If you don't have business policies enabled on your account as yet, here's some info on how it works,
http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Hub/May_2012_seller_changes/Making_it_easier_to_sell/Business_policies
and try this link to opt in: http://www.bizpolicy.ebay.com.au/businesspolicy/policyoptin
PS if a seller uses couriers etc that won't ship to rural areas, in today's eBay environment, being able to block is recommended above allowing purchase and risking defects).

Hello,
What type of items do you sell?

You can't restrict selling to specific areas within Australia.
eBay items for sale are available to all Australians, no matter where they are located in Australia.

Just work out how much it costs to post the item to most remote area possible, and then factor that into your item price. That way, if you end up having to send the item to rural WA, you won't have to worry about not getting your money's worth. And, if you're selling to a Sydney buyer, it would just be an added bonus as you get to keep more of the item price.
I wouldn't advertise an unwillingness to send to certain locations, lest you offend Perth-based eBayers such as myself.

If you don't want to sell to rural areas just list your items as pick up only. The items I see in your completed items would cost the same postage to my rural area in north west Victoria as it would to Bathurst.

Actually, I think you might be able to exclude some postcodes:

I wouldn't recommend doing so though; often a bidder in a far location can drive up an item's price so you still get more for it overall, but it does appear to be possible after all.

How on earth would anyone (seller) find out that info, if you weren't able to post it?
