Dear community, need your valuable advice I’m a seller and recently experienced a difficult international return.
The buyer returned the item using Royal Mail. Tracking shows “delivered”, but I never received the parcel at my address. The delivery scan only shows a location/postcode, not a full address, name, or signature.
eBay closed the case in the buyer’s favour due to tracking, however Royal Mail only allows the sender to open a lost or misdelivery claim. As the recipient, I was unable to file a claim despite trying multiple contact methods.
This left me in a position where the buyer was refunded, I did not receive the item back, and I had no way to pursue the courier.
I’m sharing this to ask other sellers:
– How do you protect yourself from this situation?
– Do you avoid international returns or use GSP only?
also ,delivery status shows incorrect information.
Thank you for reading.

Looks like the buyer provided a fake tracking number. In situations like this, we make sure to carefully check the tracking address to confirm it actually belongs to the original buyer.
