Interstate car buyer scam or legit?

Someone interstate has bought my car and says they will transfer money and arrange pick up without inspection etc. I'm reluctant to offer address of car and any personal info because it sounds a bit dodgey. I've been warned once I offer my address they can tow the car and it's a civil matter not a criminal one, not sure this is true. Buyer says money will be transfered but needs address to know I'm not the one being dodgey.

Furthermore the car sold for more than it's worth and seems crazy a legit buyer would also pay for interstate transport. Is this a common scam? Could they come to collect car and give me the whole money is coming thing?

I really don't think Ebay is the place to be selling vehicles - far too many scammers out there.

If your spidey senses are tingling, it's time to cancel the transaction or offer it to the underbidder.

Alternatively, you can provide an address (such as your local police station) and tell them that's where you'll meet the person picking up the vehicle at a pre-arranged time. I think it's a real problem to be giving out addresses and personal information in this day and age of identity theft.

As a random question - don't you and the buyer have to sign transfer papers? How does this happen if they send someone else to pick it up?

I am a bit confused as to why you think it sold for more than it is worth,  28 bids, but item shows as selling at BIN price, which you must have listed ,  don,t know if the BIN price stays in place for automotive auctions.

What I do find unusual, is that the winning bidder, does not display any bid activity, for your item or anything else, for the last 30 days, despite apparently making numerous bids on your item.  Bidding activity for all under bidders shows correctly.

I agree with others, almost certainly a scam. This happened to me way back when I started selling and had very low feedback; I actually posted this question on these boards at the time. It seems these scammers target newish accounts (there have been a number of similar threads and questions over the years asking almost exactly the same questions) and they almost always offer more than the asking price.

It is very strange that they do this because it almost always gives the game away. I wonder if they deliberately do this so that they can (in their own minds) absolve themselves of guilt/karma. Something along the lines of "well if these people are too stupid and greedy, then they deserve it'. Almost all those that have posted their questions (like me) over the years, had the feeling it was a scam, by the willingness to pay more for the item.
