Some weeks ago there was a post about marking clothes with an invisible marker - but I can't find the thread. I think it was on the basis of buyer's not returning the correct garment or something like that.
Can anyone tell me where to purchase this. And do you have to have a particular light or whatever to see the 'invisible' mark?

You can purchase them on ebay and yes for you to see the markings you need to have a black light.
Both can be purchased on ebay.

I wonder if eBay and PayPal would allow it to be used as evidence in the case of a despute.

I'll leave the answer to that one up to the more experienced members.
I only wanted to find out, because my mum's size 10 black slacks keep disappearing at the Aged Care Facility where she lives. 4 pair in the first 2 weeks of being there (1 pair brand new), then the 5th pair, bought on the 20th Dec, name tagged on the 22nd Dec, disappeared by the 26th. Not bad, 5 pairs from 16 Nov to 26 Dec!!!
I figured when I/she wanted to buy more, I would mark them. If they subsequently disappeared I would take my black light torch with me - I think I'd soon find the culprit.

That is a pretty poor record kazam. Does the home do all the washing....could they be putting the clothing in the wrong rooms?
Or is it straight out theft....are the items disappearing from her cpboard?
Having gone through something similar with my Dad, you should have a word with the nurse who is in charge of the area where your mother is. These things can often be sorted out amicably whereas if you go in boots and all it can cause ill feeling.
In Dad's case one of the patients was "borrowing" everyone's handkerchiefs.
Dad was complaining that "all" his clothing was going missing and because he had dementia and it was obvious that all his clothing was not going missing, he was virtually ignored.
Once I had a word with his main nurse and we sorted out what was really happening the nursing staff just went to the kleptomaniac patient each night and took back everyone's property. All sorted and no-one was hurt.

Thanks Lyndal for your understanding on this.
I now do all the washing, have done so for several weeks. I've been questioning since week 3. There was supposed to have been a complete search of all residents cupboards - but I'm getting a bit of a run around. Not to worry though - if these people think I will just sit down and shut up, well they've got another think coming.
And anyway, this is not an eBay issue, so off to more more important issues than my mum's missing clothes.
XXOO for your kind thoughts.
