For example, if I was a plant seller (I'm not) Legally, I am not allowed to send plants to states such as WA and Tasmania. However, if they don't read or don't know the laws, they still may buy.
Now, sometimes, these buyers get a bit cross when it is explained why the sale needs to be cancelled and refunded - but it's a whole new ball game now with this defect thing coming in
So, is there a way to exclude some States so they just can't buy in the first place?

Possibly, put it in the Listing. Explain why and hope that people ( Buyers) read properly.

Digi - thank you so much - I knew and said you were the "Go To Girl"
I was actually asking on behalf of someone else who was a bit worried about posting on the boards and asking LOL

Just in case this helps, I played around with the options a couple of weeks ago just to see how they work, and wasn't able to access the option to exclude Australian locations until I had created a rate table (info on that is at the same link), but after I had created one (using arbitrary postage amounts to a couple of different locations), I was able to go back to the standard postage options and still exclude specific regions.

Digi - I just passed on your amazing link, and the person said they had tried to follow that before
you know how you do all those amazing diagrams with step by step instructions and stuff - if you have time, would itn please be possible for you to do some up with instructions to exclude WA and Tasmania? Please?
I have given you full credit for your help - I hasve not claimed this came from me - and even suggested they contact you directly, but they are just a bit shy

I've hit a bit of a snag with the step-by-step guide I'm trying to do...
On this account, I have the business policies implemented, which makes for a slightly different process for setting up postage options, and it was on this ID that I was able to access the ability to block domestic regions (but only after creating a rate table).
On my other ID, I don't have business policies, just the old, standard way of setting up postage options. I've tried every which way I can think of to bring up the domestic region when creating an exclusion list on that ID so I can post a guide...but it's not working (I just get international locations).
So, I guess that means I may only be of help if A) the person who needs the info has the business policy set-up, and B) replicating the process will actually yield the same result on any account with BP's.
😞
