Item shows as "Delivered" but customer has not received it - should seller pay?

Hello fellow eBay sellers.

A question that has been annoying me lately and I am not sure of the answer.

I send anything over $30 by Registered (signed for) mail, but a lot of my sales are under $30 and go by tracked mail but no signature, as buyers won't pay $6 - $7 or so for Registered mail on a $20 - $25 item, even though I offer this as a postage option on nearly all my listings.

Lately I have had a few items sent tracked mail, show as "Delivered" by Australia Post, but the customer swears and declares they have not received the item. From my experience, most people are honest and I am fairly sure that they are telling the truth, ie they have not received the item. This usually happens with people who live in units, rather than single houses.

Opening a case with Australia Post goes nowhere as Australia Post won't follow through on items that have not been sent by signed for mail and are shown on the tracking as "Delivered".

To keep the peace I have been paying refunds, but wonder if I should, if a dispute is opened but the item is shown by the tracking to be "Delivered" should the seller still have to pay?

unfortunetly ebay policy states that if a parcle, package, letter and or any kind of mail goes missing dure in transit or is shown as delivered yet the buyer has not received the item 30 days after the delivery date, then its the sellers responsability to ensure a refund or to send out another package and ensure it gets to the buyer. personally it makes scence to me why that is the policy because your not the one losing the battle if it comes to selling products id presume but for the regular joe who doesnt do buissness on ebay and this could even be yourself. but if there is no compensation held for an missing item id imagine it wouldnt feel nice and like your getting ripped off by the seller when it is their responsability for the buyers package. same with damaged items.

recently I've been scammed by a few sellers with packages not even arriving or potentially have arrived with proof of photo but I have not received I live in a semi connected street of units so it could be anywhere I complied with the seller being lead on an endless goose chase to different post facilities and had so even go to the main post center out to the city and after all that the seller said they wouldn't refund me because the item is "Delivered" and told me to check again or go talk to your local post office. now ebays policy is its the sellers responsibility if a package doesnt get resieved not delivered,so they are the one that's only going to be in trouble soon and I'm  not going to just let it go cause the package cost me a full 100$ which is a lot.

PLEASE check dates when replying to threads.  The poster you answered posted their concerns nears 5 years ago.  Things do change.

Why drag up an old thread to make a false comment

And how exactly were you scammed by the seller(s) if the item 'went missing' after it was delivered with photographic proof?

Welcome to many party lists I'd say
