Items not listed. Can someone kindly give advice.

If a customer calls, and the item is not the right one listed on ebay.

Can we offer them another item not listed. And, if it is not listed.. must it be invoiced through ebay.

Also, can we offer any services not listed. For example, I have a rebuilt starter motor drive, they ring up for it but it was the wrong one.

Can I offer to repair that one as it is not listed on ebay, and it is an additional service.

Please help me udnerstand ebay policy..

Thank you.

Please remember this is a positive friendly environment

Thanks

No confusion, that listing I wrote about breaches listing policy.

I know how to operate things, but when it comes to policy it gets a bit confusing.

Yes, love the smiley face.

Good attitudes.

I only looked at a couple of your listings, and I only commented on one specifically.  I see that you ended that listing which should help avoid a policy violation.  However, YOU need to ensure that all your other listings are compliant with listing policies.  You should not rely on members pointing out violations to you, as we have been doing here for free.

If you want me to do a thorough search of your listings for my opinion on their compliance I would have to charge you a consulting fee as I would think it would take hours, and I am time poor as it is with my day job that you would have to pay (in advance) for my services.  However, by telling you that you would have to pay me I am thinking that you will decline this offer.  If you seriously consider my offer you need to know that my going rate is $100 per hour or part thereof i.e. 2hrs 5mins = $300 (just to discourage you from accepting it . . . . LOL).

Alternatively, you could read the sitemap FOR FREE and save yourself hundreds of dollars engaging my services.  If you need me to point out how to access the sitemap it will take two minutes of my time to post the screengrab again and it will cost you $100 for the part of an hour as outlined above.

moderators please note:  this offer of my services for $100 per hour is just tongue-in-cheek to encourage the OP to do the hard yards himself and read the sitemap AND review his listings himself . . . . . it is not a serious offer of my services.

Another option for you is to use the Test Listings category. You just have to put TEST LISTING in the title and build the rest of the listing as normal.

I think it counts towards your listing limit but it is worth it. This way you can put anything you like and not get in trouble for violations because ebay can see you are practicing and tinkering to get it right.

We can look at it and help you understand the policies and you will improve on your technical skills.

Of course I must reiterate loudly PLEASE LOOK AT THE SITE MAP. I know it is big, clunky and confusing and can take a long time to understand. It is easier for us to help other members if we can see they are also helping themselves.

A test listing will also be a good go-to for practical advice so we know exactly which policy you have read and need clarification on.

It won't happen over night, but it will happen.

I think the OP has worn out any goodwill from several regular members with the most experience on these boards who would be able to provide the best help.  They will not be checking any test listings and offering advice.

I don't count myself among these regulars as I have not been around as long as they have, and my first reply to the OP on any thread was made today, but I do not have the time to do the work the OP should be doing himself in ensuring he has compliant listings instead of getting 'creative' with his listing descriptions and titles in an effort to circumvent policy.

Study the policies THEN create the listings, rather than create the listings and expect others to check them for compliance.  It IS NOT confusing once you read the sitemap.
