Every item sold has a final value fee right?
So, 100 items can be listed (without insertion fees), I can sell 100 items. But, when I sell these items I will be charged a final value fee.
It seems expensive to pay 1.60 on a $12.00 item. Does paypal then take another fee when it gets to paypal?
I add 10% above whatever i want to get for it inclusive of postage. Can someone tell me what I should be thinking about percentage wise to cover my ebay fees and paypal fees>

I run three selling accounts and the fees range from around 13.5% - 16% so your $1.60 on a $12 item is not out of the question.
The 16% comes from a larger store that currently has around 1500 listings of which 400 are free with my store package. The rest incur listing fees which bump the average selling cost up.
Is it expensive ? Most B & M businesses pay rent on buildings and often hefty franchise fees if affiliated with a major brand. These would be a lot more than 16 % of most businesses turnover. While it seems a lot of money for a bit of digital space, it is just a cost of doing business.
If you read ebays quarterly reports to the U.S stock market, they are not actually making a squillion. The company is struggling to maintain turnover, cash returns to investors are actually falling slightly and the share price is fairly static. Not the picture of a company that is raking in a fortune.
I suspect Ebay managers are dancing on egg shells trying to balance how much they can charge for their services before it all gets too expensive and sellers go elsewhere. I hate to admit it but I almost have a bit of sympathy for them. ......ALRIGHT, I DID SAY ALMOST

Do you get charged and insertion fee and a final value fee and then a paypal fee?

no one can really tell you for certain because we don't know what % you are paying with paypal.
here are the store fees and listing FVF's
http://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/ebay-for-business/about-store-packages
here are the paypal rates
https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees-table
you will need to work out for yourself how much you add on to cover them.
For your basic store you get the first 200 listings per month free insertion

$1.60?
The most you will pay with a store is 9.5%, which would be $1.14. Or are you not counting the postage component?
Not that it matters - you pay FVF on the total value of the sale.
Paypal fees are normally 30c + 2.6% so that would be 61c on a $12 sale.
Have you bothered to research any of this yourself? All this information is easily found on eBay and Paypal.
Or do you reckon it is easier just to get other members to do your research for you.
I, for one, won't be bothering anymore.
This must be about the 20th thread you've opened in the last week or so.

As far as I know, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, you pay an insertion fee for auctions when you have a store. Only BIN's a free.

If you look at the link I provided above Tippy it says when you pay for auctions. depending on your store $1.50 or $1.00 within certain categories. Anchor stores free.
