Listing Removal in the right Category - MisCategorization policy

We have had our listing for the last 18 Months and sold over 150 pieces of
"MEADE USA 60x60 SPOTTING SCOPE Professional Monocular TRIPOD CASE BAG NEW"

Under the following Category: "Cameras > Telescopes, Binoculars > Binoculars"

And now the Listing has been removed, with a reason of violation of eBay's Miscategorization policy

Why we listed under this category because eBay does not have a MONOCULAR category on ebay.com.au, and 600+ sellers have listed there Monocular Spotting scopes under the same category. According to the eBay.com.au search results, these are the statistics of the search results

Please search for
1.)    “Spotting Scope” – 223 Results (Max) under Telescopes & Binoculars eBay.com.au Category
2.)    “Monocular”687 Results (Max) under Telescopes & Binoculars eBay.com.au Category
3.)    “Spotting Scope Monocular” 57 Results (Max) under Telescopes & Binoculars eBay.com.au Category

Now if the product which we Listed is a MONOCULAR SPOTTING SCOPE, where does eBay expect us to list this product – eBay may suggest under SPORTS > HUNTING, because yes you have scopes there. BUT this is Not a Rifle scope, so cannot be used for Hunting. And anyway under Hunting you get the minimum occurrence of 8 compared to 57 for “Spotting Scope Monocular” – 57 Results (Max) under Telescopes & Binoculars.

Hence please fellow ebayers, do you think we have violated any LISTING POLICY under Miscategorization policy? Please can you give us your poll on this issue

MEADE USA 60x60 SPOTTING SCOPE Professional Monocular TRIPOD CASE BAG NEW

Is it a bag or a tripod or binoculars or a scope?

Looks more like keyword spamming to me.

Having had many items removed and received many policy violations since September (including some in the dolls clothes category that had been titled the same way for 10 years:O), I suggest you phone ebay to get clarification on the removal.

Depending on who you speak to, your listing may or may not be reinstated:-)

If motherbear's suggestion doesn't work, maybe one of the other sub-categories would be suitable (eg Telescopes > Accessories since it's a singular scope...with accessories? ) Or if all else fails, Other Cameras, Accessories, which is a bit like 'everything that doesn't fit into the other categories'.

@foxette-in-sox

If we check on eBay the same product as out, all other listing with the 100% exact title still exist and have not been removed. And eBays reason to removal as stated in their eMail is

You are selling a monocular and was also listed in the category:
"Cameras > Telescopes, Binoculars > Binoculars"

and surprise surprise, there Does not EXIST a category called as MONOCULAR anywhere on eBay.com.au, and thats why over 600 sellers are selling scopes under the "Cameras > Telescopes, Binoculars > Binoculars" category

Sounds like you got reported by a jealous competitor.

I don't know if that is worth mentioning to eBay when you ring them. I suppose they have a record of who reports.

I would ask ebay where it should be listed, and clearly state why it should not be in "hunting".

I don't know what you are selling but presume if there was a category

"Cameras > Telescopes, Binoculars, Monocular > Monocular"

you would list in in that category?

Maybe sell it as "half a binocular"?

I just looked at some and they are listed in:

Cameras > Telescopes, Binoculars > Telescopes

and then some listed in:

Home & Garden > Parties, Occasions > Tableware, Serveware

:^O

By the way it might be a good idea to say

"MEADE USA 60x60 SPOTTING SCOPE Professional Monocular WITH TRIPOD &  BAG, NEW"

instead of

"MEADE USA 60x60 SPOTTING SCOPE Professional Monocular TRIPOD CASE BAG NEW"

The listing has existed in our store before the eBay Title character count was expanded, so yes we would have loved to put with, but having title length limited we could not put the the with
