Loss of exposure to potential buyers due to eBay delay in listing

Got a bit crabby today.  I listed an item at 3.27PM (as eBay have told me).  Having a look it said I had 2 views (already!!??)   Typed in my listing heading and couldn't find it.  Got onto the 'chat' people and was told it would take up to 12 hours for my listing to appear.  (So where did the 2 views come from???)

The bottom line here is that when it is finally listed (and I have been told it will say it is as of 3.27pm TODAY) I will have lost up to 12 hours of exposure to potential purchasers.  So my 7 days become 6.5 days.  Then probably no one will see my listing at 3.27AM, so in effect I lose another few hours till people wake up and jump on to eBay - end result probably around 6.25 or less days exposure.

Almost ONE day lost out of SEVEN!!!!  I don't believe the playing field is level.

When you list on ebay, there is a very clear message at the end before you hit confirm, something along the lines of 'you acknowledge that your listing can take up to 24hrs to appear on ebay'.

Your listings need to get picked up in the sweeps & if they are a brand name,be prepared to wait a while.

Re the 2 views-ebay bot & google bot would be my guess.

select 10 days for duration length - you've just scored an extra 3 days for FREE...

I guess it is a bit hard to complain about something that is free, eh?

(ie the first 40 auction listings on a non store account)

Is it a level playing field?

YES

It affects every seller the same, regardless of whether we have a store or not. Some times my listings may take many hours to appear, sometimes they are there right away.

As Foxy said, we are told it may take up to 24 hours before we list, so can back out anytime we want to before we agree to the terms by hitting that confirm button, though when we get to do it for free, I'm not sure why we would want to.

All care will be taken with the packaging of this item, but I do advise that I cannot take responsibility for any damage which occurs during transit.

i noticed this on your listing but it means nothing as you are supposed to pack the item so it doesnt get damaged in the post.....any damages you will have to refund the buyer

And another listing put up previously is still not there - not a brand name, just pottery.  Sorry, but I don't agree with YES on the level playing field.

What I don't think you are getting is that sellers are supposed to be getting 7 or 10 days listing, but by the time eB get around to actually listing the item - a lot of time has gone down the drain.

You're right Moonlighting, but unfortunately, it's been that way forever. I can't see it changing any time soon either.

I am not the only seller who says they cannot be held responsible for what Australia Post do once parcels are in Australia Post control.

And your comment has no relevance to my original post.

You forgot the bit about

As postage costs vary so much from State to State, please contact me so that I can give you an accurate cost to post this item

THAT will cause the OP the biggest loss of buyers IMO
