I came back to ebay about late august this year to start selling again to clear out my room of the piles of games, movies i never play or watch often. I have sold on ebay before and it has been fine with no troubles.
Now that im back selling again I have noticed some people bidding and winning and then simply not paying. since august i have had 6 non payments, possibly 7, waiting to see if the buyer responds yet or had possibly died of a heart attack at their computer screen, unclear yet.
What is going on. In all my many years of selling i have only had about one non payment. Now im back selling and i have seven in about four months.
These people not paying just simply dont respond, checking their feedback other sellers leave feedback saying they have no payment or response either.
What makes it difficult is that i cant give bad feedback like i could before. All these non payers have all this positive feedback with comments saying they have not payed.
I feel like this is some sort of scam.
Did ebay do this to not scare away customer by having bad feedback. whats the deal. Does ebay ever get rid of these ebayers that occasionally buy but mostly dont pay to get more positive feedback. I doubt ebay would get rid of customer even if they do not pay some times, they want the fees.
I have opened unpaid cases for all these items, wasting my time because the buyers have nothing to fear anymore because there is no bad feedback anymore.
Anyone else notice an increase of non payments recently?.

Why not let the sellers have the option to leave neg feedback for buyers that have had non payer disputes closed against them after they have not paid?
This way the strikes are there to block them from the sellers that have the blocks in place and the sellers will be happier that they can let it be shown how the transaction did not go 🙂
Now I know there will be the usual's that will say they do not have the time to look through the FB of buyers BUT they have the time to look when members post here and have the time to comment about it as well 😐
But with the amount of sellers that do complain then surly that is an indication of just how many do look.
Ok it is not much use for snipe buyers or BIN buyers BUT for those that bid early, it will give the seller the option on whether they CHOOSE to remove that members bid if they can see non payer negs if they look when bids are placed.

I want additional clearly visible non-payment buyer information introduced as a deterrent to at least some of those buyers who may think twice about not paying for their purchases, as well as flag to sellers regarding following up non-payment action promptly.
I also think it would make ebay a little more accountable regarding their Inaction action regarding habitual non-payers - one could begin to see how many non-paying strikes could be accumulated before account is suspended or closed.

Here's the solution. Ask ebay to send them a t shirt with " I'm A Non Paying Bidder On Ebay " on it. 😉

LOL
The problem with enabling sellers to leave visible mark for non payers would be that it could also be used in retaliation against buyers who used DD or paid cash on pick up. Lets say buyer pays by DD, is not happy with item, leaves NEG, the seller then leaves them NPB neg. eBay has no access to bank accounts to verify if payment was made or not. Under such a scheme, any buyer using DD or cash would be leaving themselves open to retaliatory NEG.

If that was to happen Nova the buyer on;y has to send proof of payment by a copy of the payment receipt to remove the neg.

The system is certainly flawed. I have had hundreds of buyers not pay for items. If a buyer changes their mind and messages me straight away to say "sorry I don't want this item", that is fine with me.
The issue is the habitual non payer that makes up a story as to why they can't pay - usually days later or in response to an unpaid item dispute.
I have raised the issue of cancellation requests with ebay and their suggestion was to always open an unpaid item dispute. Personally I think that is inappropriate for a buyer that has a legitimate reason for needing to cancel the sale and has a good buying history. Why should a buyer like that be tarnished with the same brush as a habitual non payers? It hardly sounds like good customer service to me. I also fail to see why a seller must open a cancellation request when the buyer is requesting the cancellation.
As others have suggested I would like to see the number of unpaid item strikes, paypal claims, cancellation requests etc visible on a buyer's feedback and the ability for sellers to put blocks in place for buyers that they consider to be high risk. The block should apply to all ID's that buyer/seller holds both now and into the future.
I have blocks in place for buyers with strikes, but many of these buyers have low feedback scores and no doubt simply keep creating new IDs - that in itself circumvents the whole feedback process.

thinking about leaving Ebay as we speak for exactly this. Ebay are not taking responsibility for the site. seems that money and not running a brilliantly run site is their interest
