Hi there,
Just wondering what your thoughts were on a "Mark Received" function so that sellers have some idea if a customer has ...... well received an item, I know your going to say well they simply leave feedback so that is proof of item being received. Not in all cases, I have a few buyers that haven't left feedback and I would really like to know that they have received the item at least so that I don't have an issue in the future with coming to me months down the track and say they are still waiting for their item.
Anyway my thoughts are that Ebay could make it a compulsory action to be taken by the buyer and if they do not mark as received within say 2 months then they receive a reminder email to do so.
The reason I say make it compulsory is because if not it would just be like feedback and the seller would be left hanging.

Iza - yes - you missed it :^O

They'd also need to add ...don't mark received until after the item package has been opened. .

More, I'd rather not, but if its there I'll use it...because it would become a loose end and I hate loose ends, unchecked boxes etc. :8}
When I first joined eBay and started buying, I noticed the "I need to leave feedback for X items" note on my page. I didn't know what feedback was, but I did know I wanted the "to do" list to go away. :^O
Digi - you sound like me - I can't stand my recycle bin not being empty on the desktop. I don't like files and folders that are not complete, named and filed away, and don't get me started on items I can't manage to archive from my unsold list!

also if it's marked as received but then found to be not as described...
the case would be that they hadn't technically 'received the item' they purchased ..so how would that then work with a dispute ?

Sometimes, not long after emptying the recycling bin, I find another file that needs to go...
I literally sit there and think, well now everything looks all messy again. :^O :8} :^O

This is my point exactly if they didn't click the button I would have legitimate reason to contact them for some reason over the years Buyers don't seam to think nor do they appreciate a Seller contacting them to say "you didn't leave feed back why?" and I can understand why (it seems a bit desperate) however if I was to contact them because I was notified that they had not clicked the "Item Received/Not Received" button to say I was worried that they may not have received the item, to me this is a legitimate contact that goes far to create a better trust between Buyer and Seller, call me old fashioned but I believe in trust and honesty and communication and I think that is what is missing in a lot of online stores, auction site etc.
I once again re-iterate what a poster said earlier - if we can't get them to leave fb how can we get them to mark received. ?:|

Buyers don't seam to think nor do they appreciate a Seller
Don't we ?
I think that kind of assumed attitude it isn't what buyers want to see from sellers.

Thanks Cat, but some how this has become about FB and I think it was my mistake by mentioning it in the first post the only reason I mentioned it is because it normally is the only form of contact the we have with our buyers and therefore the only way in some instances to know if all went ok with delivery.
So lets forget about FB this thread is about that is is about "received Item/Not Received Item" button ๐
