I really think that sellers should be able to give negative feedback to buyers.  I recently had a buyer for an item, she sent me an email to tell me that I had sent her soiled clothing.  She also sent photos that were so badly coloured (mostly orange) instead of the lovely coral pink colour the item was, I told her that I couldnt really see anything in the photos at all.  I let her know that she could send the item back, she told me forget it and that she didnt want to pay the cost of sending the item back, she also stated that the item was already in the bin.  Her feedback left for me was that I sent her soiled clothing and that I was an aggressive seller.  Ebay wont do anything about taking out that feedback at all.  This has happened twice now where a buyer lies about items cause they dont ask questions before buying anything and when they find its not what they thought, the seller gets it even when we offer a refund.  Ive lost a huge amount of percentage over this and now I think Im going to have to go elsewhere to sell my items cause 100% of control is for the buyer and not the seller.

Goodness, yes, your percentage has taken a beating. Unfortunately, leaving negs for buyers doesn't really have much gain because they can still buy stuff. If you have auction stuff and you look at their feedback before the auction ends, you can cancel their bid, but it doesn't stop them buying buy it now stuff and you are powerless to stop them. Once they've hit the BIN button, it's too late.

 

Sadly, there are always going to be buyers that try to rort the system, There are a few threads from the last few days about just that. They buy a garment, then say there is something wrong with it and demand a refund. Of course they don't want to return it. They want the garment and the refund. I think they call that eBay shoplifting.

 

Check your buyers feedback that they have left for other people and see if they are in the habit of doing this to others. If they do, you may be able to fight to get the neg removed. If you have photos of the garment before you sent it showing that it was clean, you may be able to fight it.

 

I would contant eBay again, be calm and polite and see what they can do. Others here would probably suggest ringing them as opposed to sending them a message. Sometimes it can take a few calls and that seems to work. If you get no luck, ask to speak to a supervisor or manager.

 

Good luck with it all.....and don't forget to add them to your blocked buyer list so they can't buy from you again.

Furthermore, I can't believe they have got so nasty over a $3 item! They would've paid 5 times that amount at Vinnies. Did they say where the stains were?

eBay really can't tell who is in the right or wrong here. It really is your word against hers. Also it kind of contradicts on what you said when you reply the negative in all caps. Isn't that being agressive as well? It really doesn't help you improve the case.


That said, I don't think negative rating really matters anymore. When I get negatives, I don't even see an impact on sales at all.

 

If you want full control of your store, I would suggest opening a webpage and go agressive with adwords marketing. I've seem to be been able to grasp of using good keywords to bring in potential customers and converting them to a sale.

 

Though you probably need to be a good graphic designer and alot of tips can be found on Youtube.

 

I think the reason eBay took away buyers giving negative because it made buyers scared to purchase items from seller and from eBays point of view it hurted their busniess (I got this from an AMA thread on reddit from an eBay employee).

The neg feedbacks would not have stopped me buying from you, your follow up comments would. Had you been able to leave negs for those buyers no doubt it would be in the same vein as those followups and would definitely have stopped me buying anything from you so perhas you should thank ebay for not allowing you to make yourself look even worse by leaving negs.

 

As a seller no I do not want the ability to leave negs restored, I am perfectly happy with the feedback policy the way it is now.

I have been in this position myself. I sold brand new items in perfect condition. Then bought by a serial complainer and ebay shoplifter.

They leave negative feedback that is really horrible. I reply to their feedback telling the truth - that the item was brand new in perfect condition - so others can make up their own mind.

Yes she said they were all over the front and back, I have the original photos and there was nothing seen in any picture.  her photos were all orange very bad exposure which I pointed out to her the colour of the item was a very gorgeou coral pink.  Yes its very hard to believe that someone would get so angry at an item bought for only $3.00 which is why I know she was only in it for the sabotage.

Thanks for your comment, it does make sense, but hey its very difficult looking at lies.  Im far from an agressive person and when you offer a refund and she still turns around and puts what she put, its very hard to cop.  But hey thanks for comment its fair.

Well hey the aggressive capitals as you put it was after her bs remarks, also the caps were on without me really taking much notice cause of being alittle upset with her comments.  But yeah you could be right that alot of people may not take too much notice, but I did and wasnt happy with it.  She wrote the thing about being aggressive well after I offered her a refund.  So hmmmmmmmm sabotage I still think.  Very nasty people have nothing better to do than make it horrible for others.  Ummmm I have to say that I didnt know that capitals meant someone was angry.....yeah ok.
