The old thread has been closed so I have started a new one, as I wanted to respond.
This has happened to me recently. The seller messaged me to say the parcel had been delivered, and to please leave good Feedback. I replied that it hadn’t been delivered – and where was it? Tracking showed "Running behind, original estimate XYZ”. The seller replied that the parcel HAD been delivered to No X, Y St, Z Suburb. And attached a photo that showed a front doorstep with about 3 parcels lying around. Trouble was, my address was a PO Box and although the suburb was close to mine, obviously the photo did not show a PO Box. I suspect that they had used Sendle and it had been assigned to a someone who could not deliver to PO boxes, and so they had just left it with another delivery. They were a newish seller, so I just asked politely for them to refund me. No no they said, they would get the parcel back and send it on.
I responded “Please do not delay this process any further. The item is not going to be retrieved - it has been left on someone's doorstep and will either have been stolen or used by that person. I have already said that I want a full refund - eBay gives you 3 days to refund me yourself - after that they step in to do it and you will get a black mark from eBay. Please look after your reputation and refund me promptly - that will be the end of the matter so far as I am concerned. In the future I suggest you use Australia Post for your deliveries - they do deliver promptly and safely.”
They refunded the next day. They have since changed their seller ID and currently their Feedback is good. I don’t know whether they were trying it on, or whether they had been caught out by poor delivery service. In the old thread, OP does not say whether the photo supplied clearly shows their building nor do they clearly state whether they have opened an INR dispute with eBay.
