Just checked the new look preview of the dashboard. I see that my ontime shipping is borderline, even though it would be a rare thing items are not posted the same day.

This would suggest that prepaid labels with tracking auto uploaded during process is not enough to protect you. It may be necessary to walk into a post office everyday to post if you want to be covered, Otherwise you are open to buyers perception of late delivery.

You are correct.

You either need a scan event that shows the item is lodged (accepted) within your specified handling time or a delivery scan event (or both) that happens before the lastest ebay estimated delivery date (EDD). If you have either one of these then the buyer will not even be asked the question did it arrive on time. If you have used Aust Post as the carrier.

However, if you are a large letter seller then you are totally at the mercy of the answer to the question. You have no way to counter it.

As I understand it at the moment ebay have hot links into the Australia Post tracking system and can automatically see these scan events. But they do not have this setup for any other carrier at present (but are working towards this). So if you get a late delivery point but your scan events show meeting either the acceptance time or the EDD then you can call CS to have the point removed once you show them the supporting scan events. This info is from Tim Davies who had a meeting today with ebay.

In that case they should not be promoting street box posting method for Ebay labels and C &S. Expecting sellers to go to post office everyday to validate 1 day delivery is not only counter to APs desire to keep people out of post offices (hence the whole reason for online payment). It is down right unreasonable.

With regards to my "late shipping" even though it is showing as borderline I dont have any low DSRs in respect to slow delivery..so its all due to ticking the did it arrive on time box.

I had a buyer tick no, even though I posted within an hour of payment and it arrived interstate in 2 days. My handling time is 5 days, so even that hadn't expired, let alone that pathetic estimate. She also hit me with 1 star for postage time. I contacted eBay and got them to check the tracking number, which proved 1. I posted well within my handling time, and 2. it arrived well within the estimate. They removed the star and the defect and as my seller dashboard is saying I have no delivery issues, I'm assuming they removed that as well.

We are at the mercy of buyers, especially those of us who use large letter as well as parcel. My large letter items wouldn't be worth it if I had to add tracking to them.

Edited to fix spelling errors.

Yes new dash board is scary ๐Ÿ˜ž I use mainly large letter postage, and even my tracked items don't show for days as 1. I live rural and they don't scan at my post office  (a small corner store) and 2 even when picked up the items travel to a rural sort area where they are loaded onto a truck and sent to Sydney where first tracking event is listed so normally takes 2 days before they are in the system ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'd say then if you can't even get your tracked items scanned for lodgement until they reach the sorting centre you need to increase your handling time to cover this delay. Otherwise you are going to be totally at the mercy of the buyer's answer just as for your large letter items. Almost seems futile to even have to pay for tracking in this case. I would be inclined to call eBay and discuss this situation with a Rep. Ask for a supervisor if you don't get any joy.

I think that is fair though because a seller can create a label online as soon as the sale happens but can then not actually post it for a few days.

If you're using the mobile version of the forums, all replies are to the OP for some reason. If you go to the full version, it's just like being on the computer and your reply will be to whoever you direct it to.

No its not fair, the point is the system does not have the means to action the intention fairly for either buyer or seller. To put it simply the technology is not there. Until street boxes (which are a promoted Ebay method), and letters have the ability to scan on lodging, and that seems unlikely anytime in the near future, the whole system is unpractical and is nothing but magical thinking. They are attempting to do something that is not possible.

PS Just got another hit today. I have one left before I fall below top rating on this system. All items in last month have been same day shipping and tracking uploaded

PPS It doesn't show which transactions it is left for so you cant complain to Ebay..I have no corresponding late shipping low DSRs..its simply ticking that box that is doing it, and that is not traceable.
