I found out yesterday that we are now not able to manually change addresses for customers to print up a label for a satchel. I ended up contacting Ebay and their reason is because of fraud. Honestly how many people would go to the trouble of getting into someones account then, trying to have an item sent to a different address? So its puts us in the position now of having prepaid Australia Post satchels on hand to manually write out and post that way. Also if someone wants something sent as a gift to a different address the same thing, have prepaid satchels.

The rules as I understand them are to never send to any address not supplied by eBay. Buyers can set up alternate addresses in their account if they want to have things sent to alternate addresses. I would never send anywhere other than the supplied address, and YES scammers do get hold of accounts and get things sent to other addresses. You are taking a big risk.

When they put city instead of their suburb.
When they use the wrong postcode.
When they misspell their street or suburb.
I would have to have quite a few hit the fan before I went close to losing what I would lose in Paypal fees if I cancelled all of those.
These are small corrections, quite different to sending to a totally different address. I do these sorts of corrections, but would NEVER EVER send to a totally different address.

I've also had to make minor adjustments, confirmed with the buyer through Ebay messaging. I don't have a problem doing that. Regarding sending to an entirely different address, it's hard to know whether confirmation of that in messaging would be enough to win a case should one be opened. For me personally though, it's just one small box ticked towards a safe transaction

Half my items go as untracked letters. If I was going to be scammed, they would be the ones targetted.
The subject of this thread, however, is not being able to make any changes to eBay labels.
I generally use prepaid satchels, but I also have the fallback of MyPost Business if eBay don't want to play. I don't do the volume of parcels to get any discounts from AP, so I don't often use them, but I have that option.

I use prepaid satchels too or my own packaging if under 500g. For the few sales I have it works for me. I used to sell a lot of books a number of years back, children's books mostly, and always sent them untracked, never had a problem, reluctant to though now with higher priced games etc. Probably being a bit too over cautious. I'm just kind of testing the waters again atm after a break and will change strategies as I go
