Number of defects doesn't add up

In my seller dashboard, it states I have 9 defects out of 500, making a defect rate of 1.8%. However, when I add them up, there are 10, (8 for items not as described (pffttt!!), 1 for shipping time and 1 for cancelled transactions) but when I download the defect report, it states:

Your total transactions with defects as of 09/10/2014: 5

So which is it? 9, 10 or 5?

I am really disgusted with the defects for the NADs for clothing (my major item type) because I always include measurements - which I am convinced buyers do not ever read - list the fabrics, and show three clear photos. What more can I do?

Mine is the same, 1.09% defect rate, and says 16 defects, when I download the report it says I have 9.

Most for item not as described, however only 2 had neutral or neg feedback, and the ones that were supposedly not as described had glowing feedback, so not really sure what buyers are doing when they leave feedback.

Also had a couple for cancelled transaction which was due to an eBay glitch that prevented multi-variation listing changes from actually being applied, and allowing buyers to buy things I didn't have stock of. (eBay don't care about it either)

And no clue as to how eBay are structuring the defects... It does my head in so I try not to think about it too much.

Good to know it's not just me, but bad of ebay.

Also with regard to this bit:

>>Also had a couple for cancelled transaction which was due to an eBay glitch that prevented multi-variation listing changes from actually being applied, and allowing buyers to buy things I didn't have stock of.<<

The same happened to me and I thought I might have made a mistake. I rarely have more than one of any item, but for one item I had two. I sold the first in mid-Sep and then the second last Monday morning. Just a few hours later, another buyer 'bought' the second one as well, which left me to apologise profusely as I didn't have it. I had to request a cancelled transaction, which the buyer has yet to respond to. So another defect I suppose, and I'm sure entirely not my fault.

Yes, I originally thought I had made the mistakes, until I realised it was actually a glitch. One of many.
I tried talking to eBay about the glitches but they flat out denied them and said there was nothing they could do.

I love the way we now get defects for cancelling a sale when the buyer requests it.

I have got defects for items purchased by non-paying winners after going through the whole non-payment process.

The defect system is just unfair.
