A newbie (0) in Qld bought my pickup only (NSW) item. I sent a message with invoice alerting them to the pick up only requirement (written in LARGE letters in the listing) with no response.
They then paid. I've sent a couple of messages - no response. Short of ringing them do i just have to wait till they realise nothing has been delivered & put in a complaint or can I put in motion any official process ?
Many thanks

hi i only sell pick up only and this happens at least 5 times a week with me most of the time they still have there old address on ebay and a lot of the times they have relatives who live in your state and some dont realise its a pick up. just keep messaging , that this is a pick up only sale, thats all you can do .

I would message them via ebay so there is a record.
I would not ask if there was a problem, not if your listing was clear and it seems it was.
Just ask what day they would like to pick up the item & give them a list of some times you are available. Don't give your address, just the times eg Wed-Fri between 6-8pm or whatever.
The ball is then in their court and if you hear nothing, send another message after 4 or 5 days with another question as to what day suits them to pick up.
At least if you message them, and they complain, you can direct ebay to view your ad, view your efforts.
Now, it may be that they will realise eventually that the item is pick up.
They may contact you & say they can't do it.
You may have to then organise a refund.
But until they ask about it, I wouldn't, as you don't know for sure they are not planning on having it picked up by a friend or relative.

You could send them a message with a quote for sending the item via courier, that might shock them into asking if they can cancel the transaction.
That way if you agree they'll get their money back, you won't get a defect, and you'll get your fees back.

You can refund and cancel the sale using the "buyer changed mind" option.
Youll need to wait til they respond and confirm the cancelation. If they dont respond, Ebay will eventually close it for you. Then you wont get a defect (at least in my experience).
Id send at least two messages via Ebay asking for contact re: pick up time etc, though, so that Ebay can see you have tried to contact them multiple times, and see that they arent responding, in case something happens.

Yep, done all that. I did think the same, that they might have a relative locally, but they haven't repsonded to indicate that. Have offered to organise mail at their own expense. I'll send some more messages.
Just very annoying.

i can remember one sale i had about 4 years ago.it was to my mind a shocking color can of paint on auction anyway there was a 2 person war on bidding that when it stopped it went past r.r.p , as i could not believe it as i was pretty new to this. i sent out all the invoices and when i came to this can of paint , the buyer was from london overseas , , i said oh well no sale here ,but i got a message saying can i pick up the paint tomorrow. i thought is the concord back in operations, but he had just shifted to melbourne and had not changed his ebay details.

Unfortunately you have made a roookie mistake if all your listings are set out the same as the ones I looked at, you have offered Cash on Delivery which does not mean cash on collection. It means that you will arrange for it to be delivered and the buyer pays for the cost of the item and dellivery whern it arrives. Aus Post does provide that sefvice but there is no buyer or seller protection if that serviice is used and it is totally unsafe for both buyer and seller.
Because this is a service you have offered the buyer is within their rights to sit and wait for it to arriive and there isn't much you can do about it if they do not want to pay for postage and the item up front.
If your current listings all offer COD as a payment method you need to change that to cash on pick up.

I really don't think this is the issue here. It is quite clearly pick up only in 2 prominant places. This is a newbie who hasn't noticed those so unlikely to look further to a less prominant place for COD. They have also not responded to my numerous messages, which suggests they are not familiar with the messaging system.
Yes I inadvertantly clicked COD but honestly if it says pick up only most people know what that means. I have also offered to post but have had no response to that.
There is no cash on pick up that I can see .

Yes there is. PJ is right.
Go down to description, click on the tab about postage/delivery options and it says COD accepted.
You need to go change that in all your listings. As PJ says, it does not mean pay on delivery.
