ParcelPoint Returns, Tracking and Ebay Refunds

My ParcelPoint return never arrived but on the basis of incomplete tracking information, Ebay refunded the buyer.  The first tracking information is from the ParcelPoint internet site. The second tracking information was provided to me by ParcelPoint staff. The first information is very incomplete, but is used by Ebay.

Parcel arrived.

Parcel ARRIVED is not the same as Parcel DELIVERED, but Ebay judged that the buyer should get his money refunded as they believed it is the same. In this case, Parcel arrived meant parcel arrived back at the Depot.

In fact, the parcel was never delivered, as shown by the tracking information provided to me by ParcelPoint staff.

I enquired of ParcelPoint about what had happened to my parcel. Their helpful staff provided me with much more detailed tracking information, which made clear that the parcel could not be delivered due to insufficient address, and was returned to the sender (RTS, PARCEL RETURNED).

It also made clear that the parcel had been returned to their Depot and signed for there as RTS - and that what was meant by ‘Parcel arrived’ - arrived back at the Depot.

DELIVERED BACK TO THE DEPOT!!

When I appealed Ebay's decision, my appeal was rejected on the basis that the buyer had provided evidence that the parcel was delivered. That of course was untrue - arrived does not equal delivered.

"After reviewing this case, we decided to keep the original outcome. We weren't able to grant your appeal because the buyer provided valid proof that the return was delivered."

So much for VALID PROOF. In fact, the parcel ARRIVED back at the Depot (28 Oct) on its way back to the buyer.

So much for the value of tracking when Ebay have staff who don't understand what they are doing or even talking about

And so much for being a top-rated seller, with 4481 one-off sales, if this is the kind of treatment you get from Ebay.

No Cigar, Ebay.

Meanwhile - back at the ranch - not a cheep from the buyer!!

ParcelPoint Returns, Tracking and Ebay Refunds

I wish I could provide advice for what to do from here, but eBay are notoriously difficult to communicate with once they make their mind up about something, unfortunately.

You could alsways try contacting PayPal, from the perspective that the refund was unauthorised due to the buyer not meeting the return conditions, and if they won't help, contact the FOS and see if that makes a difference.

This really seems to be a problem ParcelPoint have to address, though, since it is their tracking summary that doesn't actually indicate the status correctly which has caused the problems. Smiley Sad

Many thanks. I think the FOS might be a better bet. You simply get tired of going round and round in the circles that Ebay have designed for you. Such a waste of my time.

Cheers.
