All is as it should be.
The buyer has fulfilled their obligation by proving the item has been sent back so have received their refund.
The seller will get their parcel when they go to collect it from the PO and if they don't they will have to put in a complaint to AP if they have lost it after carding and use that information to prove to Paypal that they have not received the item. Paypal should then issue a discretionary payment.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?

No, all is NOT as it should be.
The buyer has simply proved to Paypal that they sent something to the seller, which does NOT necessarily mean (nor prove) that it is actually the item in question.
Until the seller has taken receipt and verified to Paypal that it is the correct item, and is in its original unmarked condition, then Paypal has no right to refund the buyer beforehand.

I agree with cqtech- all is not as it should be. The buyer first told the seller the item was not gold: the seller offered a refund, but the buyer took it to a jeweller who said it WAS 9ct gold (as described in the listing) and the buyer then changed tack and said it was "not robust"- no such claim was made in the listing, which had a very good and clear photo of a fine delicate chain bracelet.
I suspect the buyer overbid in a state of optimism and then got buyers remorse, and after insulting the seller with rude comments about cheap junk, rushed to open a case.Nobody compelled her to bid so high for the thing, and another bidder chased her up to that price.
Everyone can overbid: it's part of the risk of being a new buyer, but it isn't right to take revenge on the seller, who has only good FB before this incident- including good FB for another gold bracelet, by the way.
The buyer is on my BBL, and I imagine a few more.

The seller said she had the item verified by a jeweller before listing it. Any good jeweller would have informed her the piece was hollow which the seller failed to mention in the listing. Most honest sellers do this. I had a friend here who told me the item was not real or it was gold filled which prompted me to have my jeweller check it out. The first thing he mentioned was that is was hollow and not fit to wear everyday as I do with my other jewellery.
The seller changed her mind about refunding about 4 times in total so I opened a dispute (there were plenty of emails before opening this) If I can't wear the piece everyday then it doesn't suit my needs and I consider it junk. Sorry if the seller was offended but if it had of been listed as most other sellers do as hollow I would have never purchased it. Pictures don't always tell the story, what looks like a fine bracelet and would consistent with the weight of the item turns out to be rather large and certainly inferior.
If the seller is so concerned about getting her bracelet back she would have been down her local PO by now. It's been sitting there 4 days today awaiting collection.
If you all choose to put me on your BBL I'm totally fine with it. There are plenty of sellers that would be happy with a piece of the pie. The old cut off your nose to spite your face is rather silly. You are only hurting yourself and potentially missing out on sales. If you list your items honestly then you have nothing to worry about.

OMG, now the buyer is reinventing metallurgy!
FYI, fine chain is made by "drawing" wire through a plate with a hole in it, and has been since the time of the pharaohs. The bracelet in the photo would have certainly been made in this manner, and your jeweller confirmed it as gold.
The only jewellery that can be made hollow is larger pieces : a lot of the chunky chains that seem to be current fashion are certainly hollow, and very bad value for money for the gold that is in them because of the extra proocesses and work involved.
Not all jewellery is designed to be worn daily- the thought of me wearing every piece I own is horrifying, it would be a seriously vulgar spectacle. The only people I have seen getting away with a heavy load of gold are Indian ladies in saris.
The BBL is there to save me from people who don't read descriptions, don't ask questions, and listen to their friends! Seems to work quite well for me, thanks ๐

Few months back I had a SNAD item, I went through PP dispute, won, send it back with SOD, but it was still sitting at the PO after a week. I called PP, they looked at the tracking and refunded me. Do you think, that they should have waited until the seller gets around to collect it, if they ever do? It was a large company; I am sure they go to the PO daily. Once it is waiting at the seller's PO, the onus is on them to collect it. Just as buyer cannot complain about item not received if it is sitting at their PO.

If an item is being returned as SNAD then the seller should at a minimum have the opportunity to collect and inspect the item being returned, to verify it is indeed the item they sold and it is SNAD as claimed.

If it is not the same item etc. they can always appeal the refund.
