So now Ebay are withholding money.... I have to send a $300 dolar item to a customer without receiving a dollar for it untill 21 days later. Does anyone in Ebay actually have a clue what they are doing? Do they have any business experience at all?
Would like to know if anyone can recommend any alternative selling venues - thinking it's about time to abandon ship here.

Why not ?
I buy something, pay for it, the sellers posts it, they should leave feedback then.
I message sellers if feedback hasn't been left within a week of an item being posted.
I have never left feedback first for a buyer and won't. I don't consider the transaction complete until the buyer has their item. By them leaving feedback first that tells me they got their item and are happy.

on a side note - dumb question - is the kudos thing the equivilent of 'liking' a post or does it have some deeper more mysterious meaning?...... Learning new tricks here, making me feel old lol ๐

Ok, point taken, It's not Etsy. But I have to admit, it seems really strange to leave feedback for a buyer - 'good job, you bought something!' I mean, there are so many things that can go wrong with a sale that can reflect back on the seller, so I can appreciate the importance of feedback on a seller, but giving a buyer a shiny star for buying something kind of feels like giving a sticker to the special student just for turning up.....
I do appreciate your advise, I just really have trouble with the thought of giving someone feedback just because I'm hoping they will return the favour.
FB is surprisingly important to a lot of buyer-only members. I use "surprisingly" in the context of me being surprised just how important it can be, even after being here for 6 years and seeing how frequently the topic is brought up in the forum, usually along the lines of "sellers should leave feedback after I've paid", and a special few will even leave a neg or neutral because the seller didn't leave feedback for them. ๐
I will never (ever) tell anyone else if or how to leave FB, but it's probably worth noting that there are many who view feedback as being part of a transaction on eBay, rather than the occasional result of one - I don't necessarily share that view, but for some it is much like the "thank you" from a cashier in a retail outlet, and so in turn can sometimes affect a buyer's perception of their transaction (unfairly or not).
I'm on etsy as well (started a shop early this year), and you can see there's a really big difference in how FB is viewed, and that maybe 10-20% of sales result in a review from a buyer, while here it's usually closer to 70-90%, which does help highlight how much "in mind" (so to speak) it is for the average buyer. Communication lines are a lot more open over there, though, so it probably also has to do with teh fact that a lot of the time, the buyers and sellers have already said their proverbial thank yous directly.

Or some regulars kudos posts of particular posters that have no meaningful merit to general readers but seem to mean something to particular factions on the boards. My opinion only of course, take it or leave it ....
I would definitely be very tempted to spend dosh on a qualtiy ninja cat .... but it would have to be pretty awesome, as I am once again in the midst of punishing eBay at a new level of the lowest spending on this site EVER since I first joined as a buyer several years ago.

While others are suggesting new critters, do you do sheep?
The way you're going with forum member, it might not be long until you get the required amount of feedback!!

Thank you digital*ghost, I guess I need to look more at how things are done here rather than comparing to Etsy. It may seem strange way to things to me, but I need to work on my flexibility, jumping through Ebay's hoops should help me with that ๐
