I wonder how many members who complain about watchers have never watched an item.

I own at least 4 watches - does that count ?
Only if they're Mickey Mouse ones....

Perennial watchers! Hit the button already!!!!
But please, oh please pay for the item when you do finally hit the button.
Not necessarily right away, (though that would be awesome) but even eventually would do.....
(well, a reasonable time frame, anyway)

! As for watchers on buy-it-now items, well you just know they are a waste of space.
Why are they?
Maybe they like an item but can't afford it until they get paid, so they watch it until then.
And for the record .. No one is a "waste of space".

As a buyer I watch some items for months. Recently just culled a whole bunch of them. Some items I just watch for a week or until they're sold. Others I'll leave even after they're sold, if it's something cool that I might want to buy (and would forget without the reminder) or to see the price if I want to sell a similar item.
As a seller, though, I did get annoyed by seeing the watch count. Since it's been removed, it's alot more peaceful when viewing how the listings are going.

For the record..I don't hate watchers not at all that was NOT the intent of my post..... I was just saying ... as a Seller.....it would be nice if f there was a Buyer in amongst them at the moment. Its just been a slowww month. Please don't be offended by my May frustrations..

While happy to have the interest of watchers, I do wonder whether they just forget sometimes... that is, I'll have up to 18 watchers on a new book that I keep in stock, for which I offer the best deal and there aren't too many other sellers of that particular book. Because the item is Good Til Cancelled and I keep mulitiple copies in stock, the listing just keeps ticking over every 30 days and accumulating watchers.
I am not sure (who is sure about what really goes on in the black box), but I think that anyone who has a regular search set up for that type of item won't get my automatically relisted item showing up in their results at the 30 day relisting point. I find myself ending the item (sacrificing any accumulated history of sales to my detriment as regards Best Match) and using 'sell similar', so it shows up as a new listing and that then appears in people's search results afresh. I have a sense this is a better reminder to people that there's something of interest to them, than being sunk down the bottom of their watch list.
I must confess however to the occasional thought... just buy the bloomin' book and move on... it's only $12.99!

agree
sometimes item'll go on my watch list because I want to remember to show it to a family member or friend, to ask their opinion or to ask if they wanted to buy it, nothing 'wasteful' about that.
