Photograhs for eBay

I am having trouble trying to load photos of what I wish to sell.

The upload system appears to have changed and now none of my photos are uploading.

I have tried 2 different cameras and apparently I don't have enough pixels for the photos to be viable.

Until today I haven't had a problem, can you please tell me what to do ?

This is just the beginning of this bloody mindless policy...They obviously want less fees...what is behind the push for this stupidity that people cant use borders or logos or small pictures...??

In regards to pixels i think there is some settin gon the camera that will make it larger ? not sure someone may be able to help..i would email cs and give them a mouth full..!!

Your images now need to be a minimum of 500 pixels on the longest side, and you can check the size of your images by viewing their properties - most cameras can take an image at least that big, unless a bit old or the settings are too low, but if you can't get an image that size from your camera(s), you can also enlarge pictures (at the cost of resolution, depending on how much they need to be enlarged) using just about any image editing software.

you said they were over 2500 pixels in the other thread. try reducing that by at least 50% and see if that works.

Do you have it confirmed the pixels are the problem?  

I had a look at a couple of your photos (a thing I wouldn't normally do as I feel it is prying into your private business - unless I was a buyer), and it could be that your problem is the darker background, which apparently pick up a 'border'. I keep getting messages from eBay that 'X' amount of my photos don't comply with their new (read stupid!!) policy.  Each one of those photos has a dark background, and I noticed yours have darker areas to the outside.  I do not have any trouble uploading any photos that have a white background.  

One does have to wonder how long it's going to be before eBay has its own 'photo editing' site, and at some cost that will be the only way we will be able to edit photos to meet eBays requirements...!!!

Question?  If all our photos were good enough in the past to make our sales, how come they aren't now?  What is the point of this new 'rule'?  I, like most others, spend a lot of time editing, enlarging, cropping, etc. as appropriate, to get the photos as near as possible to the real thing.  

I think eBay need to learn the old saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'....!!!

Thank you 5kazam, I thought I was really losing the plot.

I agree that ebay doesn't like a lot (read most)  of my photos, however my buyers seem quite happy.

Since the uploading format has changed I can't upload anything !!

I will keep trying and I will use a lighter background as well, other than that I am at a loss.

Can we please have the old format for uploading back ? I wonder if anyone else has the same problem ?

I think you will soon discover that a lot of sellers are going to encounter the same problem.  For myself, I am just going to keep to the white backgrounds, as (so far) that has not caused me any grief.  

And that is said with fingers, toes and eyes tighly crossed. Otherwise I will be a very unhappy Jan...!!!

I forgot to tell you that I DID have the pixel thing confirmed, I rang ebay and they told me that it must be my software (I use Picasa) that was the problem and repeated the 500 pixel advice !!

If I can't get it right I will be back on the phone again tomorrow.

I think eBay will soon find that they have 'STUFFED THINGS UP GOOD AND PROPER' for nearly everyone.  You have to wonder how many photo editing programs are out there that aren't going to comply.

Maybe eBay should let everyone know which program they want us all to use... that would be an interesting answer.  I wonder what page of their generic responses handbook it is on?

There is a free photo editing software that I use called Gimp - It is easy to use and to scale the images you go to menu bar at top click in image then find scale image on the drop down menu. Enter around 1000 in the top entry box, the rest will be looked after automatically when you click on OK.

Export the photo as a .jpg format and it is ready to load onto ebay. Its been working for me since I started revising all my photos to comply.

Gimp also has easy to use colour, cropping, correction tools.

Not as good as photoshop, but still excellent and FREE
