I really seem to have trouble with buyers paying by Paypal when I have specifically requested in my item description that this is a Pickup item and Payment on Pickup required. Pickup is necessary (on occasion) for the large plants or items I sell.
What can I do to enforce this? I much prefer the buyer to call, inspect the item and if satisfied to pay and get on with it.
In this last case, I even sent a message with the Ebay invoice giving contact details for pickup and payment and this was ignored. Buyer paid by PP and has still not contacted me re: pickup. I have sent him another message repeating info.
Help please.....I seem to be stuck!

Just had a reply from my seller who states that he saw the Paypal sign under dollar and paid that way. He forgot that it was a payment on pickup item.
Why does Paypal get involved with Pickup items??

Why are you worried? In all fairness, if you're a good seller and they weren't happy with the item when they came to pick it up, its easy to do a paypal refund. There's no reason to be concerned IMO.

Simple, stop sending invoices. Just send a message after the listing ends with a request for the buyer to suggest a time for pickup and cash payment. The invoice probably has a "Pay Now" button that lets them choose to pay by PayPal.

When you offer Paypal as a payment option it appears in every listing so buyers can mistakenly or deliberately pay with it for a pick up item. Cash is the best option but maybe some buyers can't comprehend that.

You can't enforce it but you can avoid it. When choosing the delivery method select freight, don't add pick up.
In the payment field choose Paypal and cash on pick up.
That way if they want to use Paypal they will have to pay whatever you want to charge for a very expensive courier delivery.
If you already have a buyer who wants to use Paypal explain to them that you will accept it if they insist but you feel you must point out that there is no buyer protection for pick up items so they will not be able to reject it if they decide it is not what the really want as they could if they were paying cash.

I used to only want payment on pick up until one buyer said they couldn't afford the item and they needed to put it on their credit card so the payment had to be through Paypal.
I don't encourage Paypal for pick up only items but if a buyer really wants to or has to pay that way then I let them.

only problem here is Bump, that if they are the devious kind they can do a c/card charge back for unauthorized use and you have no protection against that
