Pick up only- buyer overseas

Hi all, I need help please.
I’m trying to sell my wedding dress. In my listing I put pick up only. The buyer i noticed is from America, and obviously wants me to ship it to them. I’m happy to pay out of my own money to ship the item. But will I still be covered by eBay? I don’t understand. Thanks

big no-no from me....sell locally or suffer the consequences! Why would you sell o'seas in the present climate?

Just my opinion....someone else may answer shortly with a different perspective....

Americans are notoriously impatient and will open a dispute for Item Not Received the minute the item is overdue.

You will lose the dress as well as the money.

I would advise you to cancel the sale using "problem with the buyer's address".....you should not get a black mark for it and you will get your fees back and can relist.

Make sure you block overseas buyers when you relist.

please...DO NOT ALLOW any coercion to affect your decision (and DO NOT PAY out of your own money to ship)....bide your time; the right buyer will come along, eventually

I wouldnt send it overseas if you have listed it as pickup only.

But if you decide to,  I am confused why you will pay for the postage yourself, unless you are charging Mega dollars, as the postage will not be cheap.

Like others have said to much risk with current postage constraints,  but to much risk anyhow.

Have you messaged them,  they may have someone here to pick it up,  but I doubt that, just throwing it in there,  don't cancel until you have messaged them just in case.

You sound like a kindly person. Problem is, I can't see how long you've been on ebay or how experienced you are with selling here.

There's a danger when selling clothes and it is that some buyers can have a change of heart when an item arrives. Maybe it doesn't fit or they don't like it on etc. That shouldn't be reason to open a dispute but sometimes people do. Also there are some who (it is suspected) buy for one occasion and then probably wear it and then want to send it back.

I'm not saying your buyer is like that but they have already done one thing that is a bit of a worry. They have bought a frock listed as pick up only and from an overseas location at that. Without even checking with you beforehand to ask if you could post or what the postage would be.

At best, it could be they didn't read the ad properly, but surely a person would, when it is a wedding frock?

At worst, it could mean they don't care about your wishes, they want the dress. But if they still haven't asked about postage, they have a sense of entitlement and may even be quite resentful of the actual cost.

As I am sure you know, wedding dress alterations aren't cheap either and the odds of the frock being a  perfect fit are low, so they might try to recoup some money from you with a partial refund for some small imagined fault.

Tempting as it is to post it because you want someone else to enjoy it, try to keep to Australia only sales. Cancel the American sale.
There are dedicated sites in Australia where you can resell wedding frocks and you may even be better off there, where you can arrange for people to come and look before committing to buy.

I had a look at your postage info - you have a lot of excluded countries, but the USA isn't one of them, so I'm guessing that's how they were able to see the listing. You may want to adjust your postage countries to exclude everyone outside Aus.

I would definitely not send,  and I would never pay for postage out of my own pocket. A parcel like that will be fairly large, and you'll also need to insure it for the amount you get ($1500), which will add extra costs. Items over $750 also need Signature on Delivery, although I'm not sure if that applies to an international sale.

All up, it may cost you close to $100 to send and your fees alone will be another $150+.

Also, high priced clothing can attract scammers. They get the item, wear it for their own function and then put in a claim saying it was received damaged or somesuch.
