Has anyone noticed the huge influx of U.K sellers?
It seems that it is cheaper to post something from the U.K. to here in Au, than it is to post within the country or even your own state....
How crazy is that!

Why wait.
Just leave him here.
He can email the &%%$##$$ - when he is ready.
Agree - was in SF September & October last year.
Goodness the price of a good vodka in the supermarkets - who would want to stay here.

My husband when to Ca to visit his friend last year and he kept getting the pips with his mate because he was constantly whinging about the cost of petrol ($3.68/gal). He couldn't get it through to him that we are paying over $5/gal. Husband was also shocked at every day things, like a can of coke, or a packet of biscuits. WAY cheaper than here.
He lashed out and stayed in 5 star accommodation when he first arrived (mate lives in a small 1br apartment, so no room for guests). It was cheaper than your run of the mill 3 star basic accommodation here.
That said, wages over there are lower than here, so I guess it evens out with a lot of things.

We were in Vegas in November last year - we have a home base there as well as here but are kind of stuck here until the tinyman is bigger. The cost of living is ridiculous here, and we live on US funds, so will have the same here or there, just less to spend over there.
Ohhhh how I miss Las Vegas 😞

Yes, living is cheap in the good old US of A.
But don't get sick, or become unemployed, or let an ambulance take you to a hospital tha's not part of your insurance plan ... if you live you'll certainly regret it lol.
But as far as UK Royal Mail is concerned, their parcel service is making quite a tidy profit.
The subsidies people talk about were the UK govt's attempt to fatten the cow pre-privatisation and also to prop up the letter business and local post offices.
They have the same problems as AP with letters being the big drain and parcels doing quite well.
It would seem that Royal Mail are much better at negotiating international cartage rates than our lot.
It also seems as though they have taken a different approach to parcels business.
They export in bulk at a reduced margin and use the foreign delivery service (read Aus Post) to pick up the costs.
I heard from someone with an AP connection that the Granville facility in Sydney handles on average 7 x 40' conatiners of foreign parcels daily.
Ap get something like $1.48 per parcel to deliver and that's what we subsidise with our parcel rates.
