Using the auction method I put $700 for the price with .99 starting bid.
I wanted $700 as the reserve. I did not find this clear when I listed the item and I am not experienced using ebay.
The buyer came out aggressively and said I must honour the bid.
I wonder if others have had this experience.

it pays to read everything before listing and recheck your listing before going live..
never made this mistake myself but i can see how easy it is to do so.
as far as i know you must honour the sale.

In this case I would say DO NOT HONOUR THE SALE
eBay Australia does not have a reserve for anything other than vehicles and property.
List your item at a starting price you will be happy to take if you only get one bid.
DO NOT listen to eBays .99c start, it is a falicy, misleading and puts most buyers off anyway. IMO, eBay need to be held accountable for some of the drivel they advise.
FIRST THING: Site Map, bottom of every page, read up on Selling, Payments, Protection, protocol, Paypal, everything you can before you relist your item.
The buyer can report you for non performance, or they can pay you and then claim INR, and even leave negative feedback which is not going to help you sell in the future.
Explain to the buyer that you are very new to this, and it is quite obvious that a $700 item would not be sold for a pittance.
No matter what happens, the buyer can not force you to sell, but you may have to cop whatever action they decide to take.
Come here and ask for advice before listing in the future, and we can helo you along the way.

go to "resolution centre"...where it says "i sold an item" pick "i need to cancel a transaction"..continue from there..
hope this helps..

Never happened to me but of course you don't have to honour the sale!!
I don't know what you sold but if you were hoping to get $700 for it and it sold for 99c or only a few dollars, just message the buyer you made a mistake and if they are aggressive, don't answer them again.
Do as others advised and cancel the sale.
You have the option of doing nothing, in which case you will probably get negative feedback but you might get that anyway and hey, to save $700, who cares? well worth it.

Hi springy!
Hang on while I put my helmet & flak jacket on...............INCOMMING !
I sell only a few items yet am prepared to defend all sellers when they have genuine problems.....just recently bought an item for very little with free postage......seller stated they were moving house & item packed away......unable to find it.....yeh right!.....I cut them some slack & moved on.
However time & again buyers are advised (and I am one of those that do so ) that they have to honour their commitment to pay for transactions.....and so they should........they need to research first & study all policies.....site map is easy to find.
In this case why should the seller NOT honour the transaction?
The only sale I see for the OP is today at $150.00 not $0.99c.......so why did they not take the time to familiarise themselves with all facets of selling ?
The buyer no doubt bid in good faith & as such should expect the item to be delivered.
Time & again the boards are littered with sellers such as the OP.....I did'nt know,I'm new, nobody told me....boo hoo...they need to get off their a...s & do things fr....n properly in the first place......ok I've run out of steam now......fire away !!!

As you are an inexperienced seller with no proven history I think you were lucky to get what you did for the skates. I don't care how much they are worth obviously nobody was prepared to pay any more for them. You can refuse to sell which will mean you will probably get a neg and will certainly get a defect so your ability to sell anything else in the future will be a problem.
You have learnt a very valuable lesson and will probably end up having to pay the fvf as the buyer is unlikely to agree to cancel, if you want to sell in the future I would keep this id for buying and start another for selling after havind read up on how ebay works so you don't make any other mistakes.
