Postage Rules doing my head in. Please help!

I've been playing around with these half the day and cannot get them to work the way I want them to.

Basically, I have a category of items. It's $5 postage for the first item, and free for every additional item from that category.

I've set the postage fields for each item to $5 for the first item, and $0 for each additional. This works in that, if they buy a quantity of four of Item A, then they only pay $5.

The problem arises when they buy Items A and B - it charges $5 for each of them (so $10).

Using a profile, I've set up a postage rule that says to "add an amount" of $0.00 for each additional item they buy from that category.

I then applied that profile to Items A and B - but as I said, it still charges $5 for each of them.

I thought about contacting eBay but I know that will be painful, so I thought I'd come here first.

Can anyone help?

Forgot to mention. .. The postage service has to be the same in both listings for the discount to work. If one is standard and the other is parcel post, the discount won't work.

You'll need to set up a flat rate postage discount (you can have more than one), and then apply it to those two listings.

The additional item charge will only ever apply to an individual listing, while postage discounts apply across all listings that have the same discount.

I'm out and about at the moment on my phone, but if you need more info about creating the discounts I can help a bit later (if no one else hasn't already ).

Aha - thank you DG! That was (one of) the problems. The other was that I had to select the rule from eBay, rather than through Turbo Lister (even though I was selecting it in Turbo Lister, when I used the "Revise Item" form on eBay, it wasn't ticked). Thank you so much for your response. Very much appreciated.
