Postage labels via eBay WARNING

Okay, so to it is now no longer possible to get the eBay flat rate satchel postage labels via Click & Send, and I wanted to warn you that it is outragiously easy to accidentally buy postage labels for the same item twice and it will take over 25 days for the label to be cancelled and refunded.

Not to mention that the interface for creating Aust Post labels is a right pain to use, but do check your invoices to be sure you have not accidentally bought multiple postage labels for the same item, and if you don't have an invoice to check, go to "Manage postage labels" in your eBay "Selling Manager Pro".

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

I have also been caught by the Rebate on Ebay Postage link .

There are 2 options the first:

1 ) Under 500 grams where you put the weight in at $7.20

2) 500 gram parcel at $7.15

I could not understand the difference so obviously picked the lower price items on a number of items sent believing I would also get the 10% discount.

However, I understand this is not the case!!! Even thought this option is listed on the page that said 10% rebate for a limtied time!

I cannot understand why this option is listed but does not entilte me to the discount???

Can anyone explain this to me

thanks   Helen

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

from what I understand, there were two services that ebay hadn't negotiated discounts on, one was calculated 500g - so that's why that one gets the discount from eBay

The $7.15 one must be a flat rate and already negotiated price - so that's why no further discounts apply (Think it is $8 on C&S) The price displayed is already the negotiated discounted price.

I need to go back and look at the initial reply to confirm the other one with no negotiated discount - pretty sure iot was another calculated one? Not positive though.

Would you please have a link to the list about which you speak?

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

"Once your item sells, use the eBay label printing service to purchase your postage, print your postage label and save:

  • Find the item you want to post, and then select the Print postage label link from the More actions drop-down menu
  • If you chose a qualifying service when you listed, this will be pre-selected for you. Otherwise, select your preferred postage service from the Service drop-down menu. Not all services are available through our label printing platform.

The amount you’re charged will be the price we’ve negotiated for you, so you generally save 10% or more.

For a limited time, we’ll also be offering a 10% rebate on the only services available through the label printing platform that don’t already have a negotiated rate - the regular and express assessed (calculated) parcels weighing up to 500grams. This rebate will appear as a credit on your invoice when you use these services."

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

Thanks for your response.  This is the detail I have taken from the Print Label Section

this section: indicates 10% rebate on items up to 500 grams.  see further below..one for cost of $7.20 the other $7.15 it would appear only the calculated post at $7.20 eg parcel post which can be up to 500 grams gets the rebate.

This is notice is actually not correct and misleading

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

Assessed postage means calculated. Satchels are flat rate, not assessed, therefore do not attract the discount.

So the notice IS correct.

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

As Dave has said, it is the calculated/assessed 500g parcels only that attract the 10% discount on postage from eBay as these are the services that eBay was not able to negotiate discounted post prices with AP for. The negotiated discounted prices are already displayed with their discount (final cost) displayed

So this list comprises products with the negotiated prices already displayed

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

so I wonder if that $7.15 that is displayed is the regular rate for Assessed/calculated < 500g parcels and you get credited a further 10% off that to your account - or if the actual cost is higher and it is just showing the price after discount iykwim?

Surely, as it is cheaper than flatrate at this point in time, it must be displaying the price with discount applied cos to deduct a further 10% from that as is suggested, brings the regular calculated postage to $6.49!

That doesn't sound legit?

I reckon the regular price must be more like $7.90 - $8.00

Re: Postage labels via eBay WARNING

Thanks for your assistance.

It is confusing thought as I don't think it is clear especailly with the big banner up to top  saying 10% discount

as a parcel, not using Pre Paid Aust Post Satchell, up to and including 500 grams costs only 7.20 (and of course this is using my own plastic satchell).

I have already received 1 x 10% discount applied to my account for the $7.20 option.  But have not for the $7.15 purchased.

Maybe the discount will come in time.. or maybe not !

I accidently created the wrong label so did a second one but had no trouble getting the credit back for the incorrect one, as soon as I did it I went into cancel label.

It is showing in manage labels as refunded.

I did similar.

Cancelled the first one in mangage poStage labels. i also sent an enail and the reply to that said they could see the first label hadnt been used and I would get a credit on my account for that amount. Which I did before the next invoive was due.

The $7.15 is flat rate and part of the pre negotiated rates - so no discount coming from there

but the $7.20 is calculated/assessed - and one that has no pre negotiated discount rate, so attracts the ebay 10% discount "for a limited time"

But you get 10% on off the $7.20? meaning that $7.20 will be the regular price once no discounts apply?

so atm, that method is only about $6.50 once diwscount is applied - so heaps of savings there, yeah?

Is that what's happenning?

and gosh - even the calculated at $7.20 regular price is still a heap cheaper than C&S and i presume regular Aus post! Wonder how that's works?

Does your invoice show a charge of $8.00ish with the 10% discount applied - so does end up costing the $7.20?

Or does invoice show $7.20 with a further 10% taken off that - so end price $6.50ish?
