Postage rates calculated by eBay

I recently changed my shipping methods for vinyl records from Australia to overseas from Economy Airmail to Standard International due to the lack of planes leaving Australia. The cost of Standard International is around $24 so imagine my surprise when someone from Canada paid $29 for a vinyl record and $36.90 postage! I checked one of my listings and found that although I had specified Australia Post International Standard (which should be about $24) when I clicked "Postage" on the listing and selected "Canada" the shipping cost was shown as $36.90, even though the shipping method shown was Australia Post International Standard. This is not a good thing as the high shipping cost shown to buyers is likely to deter them from proceeding with an order.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Clearly it didn't deter that buyer. I hope that buyer knows that it could take 3 months to arrive. Postage to Canada is painfully slow at the best of times, without throwing a pesky virus into the mix.

If someone wants something bad enough, they will gladly pay the postage.
