Postal charges

Are there any tips please for minimising Australia Post charges for a buyer.  I sold two items, both ceramic, which required considerable packaging and boxing (my own box, not an APO box).  Because of the dimensions of the box Australia Post said the post was calculated on 6.9kg (the item weighed 1.54kg boxed).

Is it safe to use AP padded satchels for fragile items if the item is bubble wrapped.  I have always used boxes as I assume this is safer for fragile items.  I am relatively new to selling (although I did sell household items a few years ago when postal charges were not as high).

Are the AP boxes bought at the PO still calculated on dimensions when sending?

Many thanks.

have you thought about buying the flate rate box from the post office, they come in different sizes B1, B2 & B4

they take up to 15kg and can go anywhere in OZ

the B1 cost $1.70 to buy and $7.15 postage

the B2 cost $2.25 to buy and $11.70 postage

the B4 cost $3.00 to buy and $15.05 postage

they have a code on the box and you can post by click & send and they are trackable

Thanks so much.  I do use click and send satchels.  I will look at the sizing of the boxes at the PO to see if they will be okay.
