Posting a book, Oz wide. C & S or AP ?

Wow I can`t believe how expensive postage is getting lately.

To send one of these books via Click & Send it is $2.35 for the BX2 box plus $10.50 for posting regardless how far in Australia it has to go. This service includes tracking.

Via Aus post it is $11.40 and there is no tracking with that service.

We have 35 of these books to sell ( probably separately by the looks of it ) and are trying to work out the cheapest way to send them.

Can anyone recommend a cheaper way to send these books?

I'm assuming they'll weigh over 500gm when packed, so you're probably better off with Click & Send 3kg eBay satchels. It's $10.55 (from memory) for postage, plus satchel and label printing costs as well as any packaging you may use, as that would be under the C&S box cost (unless buying the boxes in bulk - 100 or more boxes at a time would significantly reduce the unit cost). The eBay satchels include tracking and meet the criteria for seller protection. You'll need to buy the satchels from the AP eBay store, and they can take around two weeks to arrive.

The regular 3kg satchels do have tracking, but don't provide any documentation that qualifies for seller protection.

You do not need documentation to prove post to the ombudsman other than a stat dec affirming your actions.

Paypal will however need to provide evidence to the postal ombudsman that I did not post.

It really is that simple

.... smoke and mirrors gotta luv it

..... items sold in Australia and delivered via mail order and the Sale of goods act set the precedent for "delivery" before computers were invented........

All that might be true, but I'd rather pay a little less for postage and have documentation for PayPal, if needed, than pay a little more for postage then have to jump through a few hoops.

We post heaps of books Austalia-wide and Click and Send is the best way to go.

Some couriers are cheaper, but none of them will deliver to PO Box addresses apart from Australian air Express.

And keep in mind that Australia Post satchel prices are all going up (again!) on October 22 - http://auspost.com.au/media/documents/domestic-parcels-price-and-delivery-standards-changes.pdf

Click and Send prices are not.

Domestic postage on books is insane. Once it gets over a certain weight it actually starts becoming more reasonable, so shipping in bulk tends to be more cost effective.

That's what I was going to say. See if you can ship a few books at once for the same postage cost. That way, the buyer buys in bulk and saves postage cost.
